Patriot killer released…

We're in fantastic shape at this point in mid-March. We've retained the whole D, with only 1 db move needed to account for McCourty retiring. We survived the loss of Meyers with an even better option in JuJu, and are greatly improved at TE with Gesicki over Jonnu. We're also better at RB with Robinson, and better at OT with Reiff & Anderson even if we don't further improve it. After a year together, expect big improvements from Mac, Thornton, Bourne, and Parker. Better offensive coaches will help all around, plus there's still months of free agency and we have a strong draft board.
Really? What ceiling are you seeing with this roster? Outside shot of making the playoffs to face one of the Bills/Bengals/Chiefs in round 1 on the road? Not sure how that is "fantastic shape".

Curran is insinuating the Pats are done on offense. What y’all think?

With Jalen Mills being cut I think it is more likely the Pats sign a DB to close out free agency (probably add one or two in the draft as well).
Potential targets (from athletic best remaining list)
1. CJ Gardner-Johnson
2. Marcus Peters
3. Rock Ya-Sin
4. Julian Love
5. Taylor Rapp
6. Nick Scott
7. Terrell Edmunds
8. Sean Murphy Bunting
9. Eli Apple
10. Shaq Griffin
11. Adrian Amos
12. William Jackson
13. Duron Harmon

I don't really expect any more moves, but Zolak was saying the Gesicki deal was the "first domino" and that there would be more other moves. I think Zolak is more plugged in than Curran.

I heard that and he brought up Brandon Cooks.

Ok
I think we could get alot out of mackenzie, always seemed like a good fit for our offence. Speed speed speed. But you guys are right that WR group is getting heavy especially if we are still looking for a number 1.
I should add i am not 100% convinced Bourne and or Parker are here to start the season
You're right. If we were to sign him, one of Parker or Bourne are gone.

At 5'8" / 164 lbs he was probably in Bill's mind last year for a returner's role, which is likely taken, now, with the drafting & development of Marcus Jones

31. Has been the 2nd TE in their offense the last 4 years.

The Pats need someone who can block at TE, though, looking at the pass-blocking snaps listed on PFF, TEs aren't being asked to do that nearly as much..

Cooks would be fine. Hes not the #1 they need, more of a #3 at this point. Maybe they view Thornton as their #1 in waiting...I don't see it.

And you base your view on Thornton on what exactly?

I can see Thornton playing some of Parker’s role but nothing I saw last year would convince me he’s a WR 1

I had a similar thought too. However if you can find someone significant to upgrade Bourne or Parker then I'd still consider it. And I certainly would bring another high rookie in to compete with Thornton. 2nd Rd at least if not 14 tho I think I want corner at 14.

I would be happy with Cooks. I don't think the Pats are going to get a number one they are going to find different mismatches on every drive/play and target those rather than having a number one target. Cooks and Thornton would be good match ups for when teams try to stack the box/flood the first 10 yards in a zone.

I wouldn’t mind Zay Flowers at 14.

Juju
M.Jones
Flowers
Thornton

How fun and fast would that be?

It’s way too quiet on the Cooks front right now, almost like they’ve determined where he’s going and are just figuring out the contract/trade details. Compare the Texans’ silence to how the Broncos are telling every reporter how much they love their WRs and expect high trade value.

Give me Chauncey Gardner at FS
Marcus Peters at CB (Peters and Jack Jones…may the best man win)
Draft a middle round DL
Draft a middle round Edge

And I’m good with the D.
