We should have made a trade for Ramsey
This is a steal for the dolphins, they just guaranteed his 2023 & 2024 contract and they gave up a 3rd #77 & TE Hunter Long.
You can always work the cap to your favorSo get Ramsey and be left with 2m to fill other areas? (rookie class gonna cost 8m in cap)
Who cares?Bedard must be sick as a parrot....he was hoping the Pats would move for Ramsey.
They’ll restructure his contract too, but you have to fit the original salary under the cap before restructuring. So get Ramsey and be left with 2m to fill other areas? (rookie class gonna cost 8m in cap)
Only if someone can point him in the right direction to find the field….Wade can help in slot as well
Don't know where you're hearing this. Haven't been following it much, but Morse just did an article here saying exactly the opposite.
Oh, ok. In that case, I agree.Just love to see him wrong (Bedard)

Believe he is referring to Miami's cap situation.I thought we had 30+ available
Other teams make it work, but spending almost 33m on TE was not a wise decision
The Patriots have traded for and benefitted from premium cornerbacks before - think Darrelle Revis. If it gives us two years of premium play and Ramsey never sees the back end of the contract because he wants to get traded again, so be it. That's a price I'm willing to pay. Ramsey would bring this defense up to another level with his physicality and size.Hm... Yeah, that's tough. He's only 29 still, and doing an extension to lower his 2023 cap hit sounds nice, but it does set the stage for him to be "cranky" again in 2 or 3 years when he knows he's at the end of his NFL shelf life and wants one more big deal and wants to be traded yet again to get it.
You could structure your extension the same way the Rams seemed to have structured the last one they did for him - big salaries on the back end that are not guaranteed. That way, if he does seek a trade in 2-3 years (or falls off) you can move on from him easily. Give him a chunk signing bonus to spread over the course of the next 4 or 5 seasons. Then if he has to be moved mid-deal you're only dealing with a couple years of proration of that bonus and no salary which is close to what the Rams are doing now.
Maybe we don’t think Ramsey is a premium cornerback? The Patriots have traded for and benefitted from premium cornerbacks before - think Darrelle Revis. Edit: Just saw that the Dolphins got Ramsey. It's gonna be a lot harder for Mac Jones against Miami, and that's a team that already gives us a headadche.
