Bruins 2022-23

Easy to get lost in the weeds with all this. I've followed hockey the least of the big 4 sports, but the possibility of this team being the greatest team in NHL history has me awake and paying attention. Yes, the odds are still against it, but wow, what a shame to miss a moment of it if avoidable.

Great debate to be had on that one. So many GOAT teams. In my lifetime i'd have to put a couple teams per decade in a round robin and see how it goes.

1970s- Bruins and Habs
1980s- Islanders and Oilers
1990s- Penguins and Red Wings
2000s- Red Wings and Devils
2010s- Blackhawks and Penguins (if the B's pulled it out in 2013 or 2019 they'd be there)
2020s- Lightning

At a minimum if they bring home the Cup they'd need to be considered right there with the 1970/1972 teams who were absolutely loaded.

F the WHA for coming along and breaking that B's team up!
Yes,I understand what happened was largely the NHL's fault and the players were finally freed from virtual serfdom. But that Bruins team was OURS and it was on the threshold of transcendence in '72. Why couldn't those two bastards Dennis Murphy & Gary Davidson have kept ****ing around with the ABA and World Team Tennis for a decade or so and then gotten around to hockey? I would have been happy to see them ruin the Canadiens run but no they had to pee on our parades.

( okay, okay... end rant before I get mistaken for @Joker ...again. I'll just have a day drink and yell at some clouds, that should help)

It is now beyond obvious that Linus will have to go wire to wire in the POs.

Don't know if this deserves it's own thread (though I'm starting one on the main board anyways), but:

Happy 75TH!! birthday, Bobby Orr!

If my grandmother hadn't passed away from natural causes i'd shoot her...

Back in the day my grandfather did engine repair work for Eddie Westfall and at one point gave him an autographed puck by Bobby Orr. I was a toddler at the time.

He passed away years ago and when she was cleaning out her house (early 1990s) looked for it to give to me. They freaking lost it.

I would not have sold it.

What a great story!

The only contact I ever had with any of the Big Bad Bruins was when my older brother & I attended an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner for charity at the old 3 B's restaurant on Canal Street in the early-mid 1970s... There were so many people waiting to go in that we were all limited to two servings apiece... Bobby Orr & another player or two came to our table to thank us for coming etc... We got to shake their hands and they autographed our napkins (which my brother says he still has somewhere) but neither of us remembered to bring a camera!

We were all young once...

The B's played a mixed game tonight against the hated baby seal clubbing atheist Canadiens and came away with the W.
It is beyond understanding an NHL scheduling format that made this Montreal's only trip to Boston this season. Only the NHL could screw up the greatest rivalry in sports. smdh

Thanks Gary, you ****ing incompetent NBA-wannabe tool.

There are so many teams in the league now (At Least Two too many) that if you have to play everyone you'll only see them a couple or so times...

The solution might be to just not play teams in one of those ****ing unwieldy 8-team divisions in the west and to give those extra games to Montreal & the NYRs, our old Original 6 eastern rivals...

Gotta admit though, it's funny seeing the Habs about to finish their 30TH straight season without a SC... And if McSorely's stick had been straighter they wouldn't have had that one either... And let's hope that Toronto will finish their 55TH(!!) in a row without one too... When your team has gone even longer than the Jete since winning their last title, that's when you know your team Really Sucks.

1977 Canadians - 80gp 132points = 1.65ppg
2023 Bruins - 76gp 123points = 1.618ppg
1996 Red Wings 82gp 131points = 1.597

B's will need to win their remaining games to eclipse Shutt, Lafleur and Bowman.

I'd rather they continue resting guys out. Maybe in a rotation now that they've secured home ice throughout. The last couple of years they were so beat up by the time the playoffs started there wasn't much in the tank. Montgomery left Bergeron in Boston for this mini road trip, wouldn't be surprised if one or two other vets went back to Boston rather than to St Louis for tomorrow's game.

Agree. I care and I don't care about the GOAT record. I think it'll cool if they get it but if they don't big deal.

Man....if they can get Folig, Hall and Forbort back for the playoffs. Insane depth.
