Maybe they’re asking around to see what the Niners saw that led them to draft him. So maddening. Imagine what we’d have to give up to actually trade for the guy. Think Tyreek was expensive? The draft picks. The amount of money! It would be circus level stupid around here for a long while. Now…maybe Shanny still wants a shot at Mac? How would you feel about that trade? Lance and Deebo for Mac and a 2nd?
My question has always been... if we trade Mac who do we bring in that can play QB at a high level.. deal with the rigors, pressure, the expectations that BB and the new England media put on them every day to win.. it takes a certain person between the ears.... that's why Mac was selected.. the kids tough!

As great as deboo is and he's dynamic!

1. He's in the Shanahan system... that seems to work perfect for him..

2. He's often injured..

3. I don't know that he is a prototypical, down field, go up and get it type... that we need in the o'Brien offense.. however he's phenomenal..

Just my opinions that is all...

Niners take a $28M dead cap hit (and thus lose an additional $19M in cap space vs where they're at now) in 2023 by trading him. They only have around $8M in cap space right now. I can't imagine they'd deal him now. If they wait til after June, they can avoid the huge cap hit but only save a tiny bit of space.

Don't get me wrong... I'll take Deebo 100%... but find it hard to see how that deal comes about right now.
I'd take Deebo, but I'd like to keep Mac though! However it's a great scenario!

Hmmm....
Jimmy Stewart’s phone is only slightly more reliable than Justin Ramos’ friend who moonlights as a driver for the Patriots. This is never, ever going to happen. Not only is Debo critical part of their offense, but also his cap hit in 2023 is only 8.7m. A pre-June 1st trade would be a cap catastrophe for them (see below). Even a post-June 1st trade only saves them 2m.

Not surprised that the F and M clowns didn’t spend 5 minutes researching these cap issues.

If they were willing to trade Mac, then that means (IMO) that they don’t believe they would be getting high level QB play from him. I like Mac a lot, but he has shown nothing on the field to show that he is mentally tough. He comes across as very emotional and sensitive. The breathing exercises on the sidelines, the moping. I still can’t get over the way he was acting like he snapped his leg when he had that ankle injury. He has a lot of maturing, and emotional awareness growth that needs to happen. I’d prefer they keep Mac, and he turns it around and turns into one of the best in the league. Is that gonna happen? No idea. Probably about as good of a chance as them finding a way to land a WR like Deebo. I guess the question I was trying to ask, is if the Pats did make a trade for Deebo, what would you be willing to give up? If Mac really has burned his bridges in NE, seems like a Lance for Mac swap would be good for both QB’s. I’m also in the camp of fans that don’t believe you need a true number 1 at WR to win ball games. I’d rather invest in the trenches on both sides of the ball, maybe pick up a few solid vets at WR and CB, and go all in on the draft in those 3 areas. We’re still rebuilding, 1 guy isn’t going to put us over.

Good and valid points, however if you really want to know if a players tough all you have to do is listen to his teammates.. not necessarily on offense, but the defensive guys rave about Mac and toughness.. to go through what he had to endure with these 2 clowns all season.... that's toughness!!!

Mac showed me how tough he was was his rookie season.. that was enough for him to win me over.. I believe that tends to get overshadowed by the BB set up he had to endure this past season..

Furthermore Lance has a big arm and great potential.. I'm still taking Mac.. over and or Jimmy glass. But I do however get what you were trying to ask the scenario.. it's definitely something to think about.. this season the game that's in my head about his toughness...Mac standing in there against the jets at metlife.. relentless pressure all game along.. he stood in there took big hits and made Brady like throws on 3rd down.. that's toughness!

Hmmm....

The 49ers just gave the guy a $20 plus something a year extension, why would they trade him unless they are expecting to get back the three first round draft picks they wasted on Trey Lance. I cannot see them parting with Samuel for less than two firsts considering the dead cap hit (over $26 million) they would have to take and the bargain over the next three years (about a $13 million a year average) the acquiring team would get. In fact, I don’t think they would even pick up the phone unless someone is offering two firsts and won’t part with Samuel without at least a second rounder or two added to those firsts.

Based on the fact that an acquiring team would get Samuel at a #2 WR annual contract through 2025, he would easily command more than either Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill. Those two got new top of the market contracts after they were traded.

I would pull the trigger he had year off to think about what he did. C Ridley's number are impressive I would take him over D Hopkins 24/7.

The Jags aren’t letting him go. They have him on a cheap deal and Lawrence needs receiver help.

How much of his salary are we absorbing if we trade for him ?

I think if we are not trading for a #1 wr and mostly just doing the moderate improvements offensively, we would need to make this defense dominant in order to compete. Getting a ramsay would be part of that, along with an inside lb who can do it all. Add those to what we have and this is a special unit.

Of course, whichever route we choose wed need to play better special teams as well to have an actual shot at anything.

Trade for him? The JETE are asking him to take a pay cut and you want to pick up a guy we let go and the JETE do not value? What am I missing?

My post is referring to jalen ramsey.

Patsfans and Mac Jones can relate I wonder how we felt about Fields that year? Not that we had a chance to get him.

If both Fields & Mac were still in the green room when it became our turn to pick, I would've chosen Fields... I just didn't want to give away picks to trade Up for him... Nor Mac either.

“The cap is crap!!”

Bill agreed with you.

He wouldn't even trade up one pick to make sure of getting Mac. Clearly, someone else could haved traded with MIN for their pick.

I mentioned M. Jones on offense becuase his upside is greater as an offensive weapon and ST rather than on defense.. he's undersized as CB and to me personally he's much ,much more dangerous being an offensive threat to score anytime he touches the ball..

Now the draft.. that's where things get interesting.. if groh is picking the WRs then ok we may have something.. traditionally we know it's not been good with rookie WRs being able to work out here. Thornton has something, he has elite speed and can definitely seperate.. all he needs to do is add muscle and work on his routes. Parker has a great catch range and ability.. he's best suited as a 2 or 3 at WR.. as u said nothing to special..

We still need to add at minimum 2 WRs and I'd say another TE , we'd be lucky if o'Brien can get anything out of januu...
I love Marcus Jones as a part time offensive player and the game breaking moves & speed he possesses

He needs to be a FULL-TIME offensive player, I have a feeling he will be.. his speed and ability is just so special.. he's more valuable to us on offense and ST, than defense.. he's 5"8 he's not out jumping a 6"2 WR on a deep ball.

Looking forward to see how BOB utilizes his skill set!

O . o

Why? Cuz we miss a few picks? Meh... Sucks but it is what it is
On another note.. we were 8-9, had a Benny hill show offense last season and the ticket prices get raised...

Ticket prices will always go up... With inflation it should have been expected... Gotta preserve those profit margins... But rkk has one hefty nut he's gotta pay after all that development he's done up there

Oh of course, gazillioniares use times like this to justify why things increase..

What can we do but pay right? Lol there are so many others involved with that project I'm sure RK isn't coming out his pocket 100%.. I'm sure the Gillette company is contributing as well...
