The Patriots have traded up in or into the second round five years in a row, so that seems like a reasonable prediction in a mock and has a decent chance to grab quite a bit better of a player.
2022: 54 and 158 for 50
2021: 46, 122, and 139 for 38
2020: 71 and 98 for 60 and 129
2019: 56 and 101 for 45
2018: 63 and 117 for 56
And this is harsh because it’s a really cool tool overall, but PFF’s rankings are so out there sometimes that the process feels less like a mock draft and more like an evaluation of their rankings. The biggest discrepancy this year seems to be the small WRs, which makes it especially annoying to work with. For example, both Jeremiah’s top 50 rankings and Reuter’s two round mock say a small trade up to 40 is enough to get Zay Flowers. Brugler’s top 100 that just came out has him at 55, not even requiring a trade up. That doesn’t work on the PFF simulator because he’s long gone (20 in the one I just did).
PFF also says a trade up to 40 isn’t even enough to get Tank Dell, who went 37. Brugler’s top 100 has him at 86, and even that is one of the higher rankings I’ve seen outside of PFF.
The option sliders wreak havoc as well. The "Randomness" slider should read "Idiocy" or "Jets Mode" - all the way right and you've got top 20 talent available in the late 3rd. I also think there is too much position bias. LB and TE are (it seems) docked when picked.
I just did this one (settings included)/ The trade is a pipe dream, but I would love it.
