NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Super Bowl Game Day Pregame/Game Thread (Eagles vs Chiefs)

After watching that Super Bowl, and the playoffs over the past few years, it’s becoming quite clear the NFL is much closer to entertainment than a legitimate athletic competition. Elite level QBs can’t be hit too high or too low, can’t be hit when they’re sliding or when they’ve stepped a foot out of bounds. You can’t hit a receiver when he’s “defenseless,” you can’t get physical with a receiver off the line because it’ll probably be holding or pass interference. Trying to determine what constitutes a catch in the NFL is like trying to solve a differential equation. Remember, the NFL is a billion dollar BUSINESS…all the league’s talk about integrity and officiating and anything else, it all comes back to the almighty dollar. That’s the only thing the league cares about, making massive amounts of money. To all those who said the following statement, I agree with you 100%. Any athletic endeavor where gambling is involved, there’s a very strong chance the outcome is fixed.
this. that’s all it really comes down to. I have a bridge to sell you if you think your favorite sports leagues are legitimate when gambling is involved

Neither is Mahomes, though he’s closer.

Not yet. I'm not worried about Mahomie but I'm done with Brady and Rodgers being mentioned in the same sentence. That's been decided many years ago.

Here is the ironic part: Patriots lost to the Eagles after scoring the most points in a SB. Brady was really let down by coaching and D.

5 years later....Eagles score the most points for any SB loser ever.

That Defensive coordinator was atrocious tonight.

Why is Brady being discussed right now?

We just witness a blatant bag job by the refs in the most obvious of circumstances in the biggest sporting event of the year.

Nothing to do with Brady.
Because Brady lives in their heads rent free.

Look Brady is the GOAT - 7 rings. Mahomes is just the GOAT wannabe. A poster-boy of the media because they want someone new to tout.

It doesn't bother me at all. Mahomes is very talented but he's lost head to head to Brady in the playoffs twice and now that TB12 is out he'll never get another chance to beat him head to head.

For the Chiefs to become a real dynasty they need to win 1 more superbowl and preferably next year. 3 times in 5 years I could consider a dynasty. Right now they have 2 in 4 years. They're not there yet.

The awful thing about this Superbowl is not that the Chiefs won but that it was decided by referees in the closing minutes. If this game went to OT and the Chiefs win it fair and square, hats off to them. But this was decided by Zebras, and as the biggest game in the sport, it shouldn't end that way. Not even close.

Most NFL people would say Rodgers is more talented (Arm, mobility, ) than Brady.

I don't care what most people say. It doesn't line up with the facts.

Talent isn't any one thing. It's the entire whole sum.

Let’s say they don’t throw the flag and the Chiefs go up 38-35 and Eagles ball.

Depending on the outcome of the Eagles final drive, the Mahomes narrative becomes “he’s a loser” or “he’s on pace to be the GOAT!”

Kind of stupid how it works like that anyways.

just using the Pats, a REAL high ankle sprain is Brady in 42 and Gronk in 46. you don’t simply start scrambling around and running for first downs like that if you have that injury
Adrenaline exists and it can absolutely push athletes through some injuries for a period of time. I respect Mahomes for battling through the injury. If you want to believe he is a faker, go right ahead if it makes you feel better.

you’ve definitely never had one or played a sport where a teammate had one

you don’t battle through a high ankle sprain and run around normal. it doesn’t matter how much **** they shoot you up with. this isn’t some comic book

was his ankle banged up? probably. but it wasn’t a high ankle sprain

Talent-wise he is better. Whether that turns into 5+ rings, who knows. But Mahomes showed tonight how to beat a great pass rush in the Super Bowl, something Brady couldn't do against the Giants x 2 or the Eagles in SB 52.
You got same real bad takes. kemit folded like a ***** 2 years ago against a great pass rush in the SB and Brady beat the '04 eagles who had the best pass rush in the league that year, so your takes are just horrendous

Most NFL people would say Rodgers is more talented (Arm, mobility, ) than Brady.

Those people don’t understand the position. Brady has at least 4” of height if not more, better peripheral vision, and better footwork/mechanics. Spud Webb was an awesome dunker at 5’7”. I’d still take Hakeem Olajuwon over him near the rim. Rodgers needs to compensate for deficiencies; Brady doesn’t.

Mahomes has gotten better at staying in the pocket and takes way less sacks than Rodgers…he’s much better.

Dynasty with an asterisk. Chiefs got carried by the refs to this championship. Most blatant example ever. They needed the refs to win the conference championship and Super Bowl. That's ****ed up.

I agree with this.

Not quite a dynasty yet. Maybe if they win next season. 2 in four years isn't enough. Especially when no back to back.

I suspect KC will draft a receiver or go get one in free agency. Need help on D too. Kelce will be 34. I suspect he will slow down eventually. Who will the TE replacement be?

As for the call, I think you have to let that go. Unless it's Saints/Rams level bad, this is the SB. It's not egregious. But I didn't see enough there.

In order for Mahomes to tie Brady, he would still to take the 2 titles he has PLUS do something that no QB (besides Brady) has ever done.

It just ain't happening.

Mahomes has more pure physical talent than Brady. Brady is more accomplished, is better at pre and post snap reads.
I think even Brady would admit that Mahomes has more pure talent. However talent is not the only factor in winning championships.
Mahomes has 5 more Lombardis to catch up. Seems pretty unlikely but not impossible.

I understand your point.

at least NO was actually given an opportunity to win the game after and Brees just choked. the corrupt league didn’t even give PHI an opportunity tonight
