Malcolm Butler Says Super Bowl Benching Documentary/Book Coming

Criticizing players and coaches actually isn’t fine around here. That’s why people who do so get labeled “haters.” This is the biggest homer pro football board on the net. Or at least the “homerfied” board I’ve ever come across.

The point I've been trying to make in these loathsome exchanges is there's a difference between well-reasoned criticism and incessantly pushed condemnation. The former doesn't warrant "hater," the latter does. The distinction should be clear, at least it is to me.

I see what you did there, quoting a post of mine from another Butler thread from 2021

It’s not going to work, I refuse to get sucked in this time. Away evil spirit!
I'm sorry, if I did it was totally unintentional, unconsciously or most likely coincidentally.

That said, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard that, I would have already bought out Kraft and restored the uniforms.

I’ve seen some very well-reasoned critiques get labeled “hating” in this very thread. With that said, I’m not sure why you allow him to drive you nuts. Why not use the ignore or mute features. I don’t like to ignore people, but mute has been a gift from God.

I don't think they're loathsome; I like your posts.

But I don't want you to be irritated (don't say it...).

Matt Millen drafted Calvin Johnson.
We were all wrong about him.

But seriously, I don't blame Pat for going after him and getting bonked. The Frauders have never been called out (by anyone other than a Patriots fan).

Butler sucked so bad that Belichick played him 96% of the defensive snaps that year
This is what Belichick was ignorant of.

Experience, how the other players would respond...HOW THE RESULT OF THE GAME WOULD BE AFFECTED.

Even if Malcolm sucked (he didn't), in the biggest game of the year on the biggest stage on Earth, WHICH BUTLER HAD EXPERIENCE ON, those other defensive players would have been WAY more confident and played better.

In addition to everything, Belichick treated Butler like he was a useless moron. Actually detrimental to the team.

C'mon now..

If he thought he would be detrimental he wouldn't have been on the sidelines.

You mean like Malcolm had a concussion? Which means Belichick lied on the injury report. And Belichick had total disregard for Malcolm's health and well-being by playing him on ST. So is this what we're going with?
I think a mild, non standard symptom concussion, does fit the facts of Butler feeling sick, in a fog, and not practicing well enough to be a starter. Maybe he was able to pass the protocols so it didn't need to be reported, but wasn't fully himself for the week of practice. He played ONE snap on ST. Based on what I know of BB that also fits in a he was trying to give a high performer, some one he respects, extra money when they come really close to an incentive kind of way. I seem to recall several stories like Alan Branch being a tackle or two short and BB giving him a bonus anyway. Wasn't there a receiver that got a TD late in a blowout that hit an incentive escalator? By playing one meaningless ST snap Butler got his SuperBowl money. It also fits IMO why Butler was so upset at the start of the game. I'm sure like most young males Butler feels invincible and it never even crossed his mind he wouldn't be feeling well enough to play in a Super Bowl. So if he had been told all week it would be a game time decision, and having passed all the protocols, to have that taken away at the last min when the trainers say no...I'm just saying it makes sense from every body's perspective.

C'mon now..

If he thought he would be detrimental he wouldn't have been on the sidelines.

Bill really increased Butler’s FA value by the way he handled everything…what a solid.

Yes - very much believable as BB puts a lot of stock in practice. Still the worst decision ever. Anything would have been better than the useless crap we put on the field that day.

Total lying ******** and you know it. Never -- not once -- did I "attack" ANYONE criticizing BB's appointment of Patricia/Judge. I defy you to produce ONE post where I "attacked" someone on that subject, let alone "many posters." I suggested Patricia/Judge be given a chance to prove themselves. By midseason the verdict was in.
If the search feature worked half a damn, I would, but it doesn't. To avoid triggering you further, we'll leave it at that. By midseason? How about during TC?

You see, this is what you do when exposed and backed into a corner, gaslight and make things up.
I don't even know what gaslight means. Who's backed into a corner? Lighten up Francis. This is a football forum. Don't take it so seriously.

When Ian schooled you on your anti-Mac Zappe nonsense he remarked time and again "I know you hate the guy [Mac]." You never corrected him, at least not that I could see.
I did correct him, multiple times. I don't hate Mac. I'm not impressed with what I've seen from him. That's a personal opinion I have based on my observations and reading on him. The fact I'm not openly and blindly making countless excuses for him like you and Robo do, doesn't make me a hater. Is Bacon a hater for pointing out Mac's shortcomings?

In light of that I asked multiple times if you hoped to see Mac succeed for good of the team and your silence was telltale.
...

Unlike you, I have no such agendas. I take no pleasure calling out haters like yourself, FCB, Triumph, Crawhammer, etc.
Glad you admit you label posters haters and incessantly call them out (again). Thank you for your sacrifice. Is that gaslighting?

I simply get sick and tired of the constant negative drumbeats dragging this place down. Criticizing players, coaches, etc. is fine, incessantly pushing condemnation is not. It needs to change, I know Ian agrees with that.
It's a football forum, lighten up Francis.

And making "homer" a dirty word on a freaking FAN SITE is sadly, outrageously, beyond pathetic.
I think it's telling you consider yourself a homer: "a fan whose judgment is clouded by their love for a particular team."

Sorry but I never liked Kool-Aid enough to drink it.

THIS idiotic meme -- which you've posted multiple times -- is how YOU respond to Patriots fans who dare offer a hopefully optimistic take:

I think it's funny as **** and always gets laughing emojis when I post it. Laugh a little.

I could ask you to explain how that's not being a hater, but the last thing I'd expect is an honest response.
It's funny as ****. Lighten up Francis.

So you say they didn't have any major injuries in one sentence, and then in the next sentence you confirm they lost their starting QB who was a frontrunner for MVP.

You can't make this **** up.
Nick Foles was the Super Bowl MVP… take off your clown shoes at the door.

Wussie and his pals on their way to watch their favorite "team" play.

Maybe if Belichick played Butler he wouldn’t have been.

So go be a Bucs fan, you’re fully committed now. The Blaine Gabbart era has begun, make sure you don’t come crawling back.

The QB position is only as important as it suits your argument. We get it.
Tampa was 8-9 with Tom Brady this season. Was it because Tom was bad? I don’t think so.

But if you “QB’s are everything guy’s” theory holds true… he must have been right?
