Can we root for Mahomes now?

I remember all those years of other NFL fan bases rooting against the Patriots (and they still do, the media didn't help us either) and Tom Brady. What goes around, comes around!

Go Eagles!

During the Patriots dynasty era it was natural to 'hate' and 'actively root against' the teams that were a threat to the Pats.

Therefore, I would root against Peyton and Roethlisberger and then eventually Mahomes. I didn't want them to prevent hte Pats from winning the title, but also I didn't want them to surpass Brady's greatness.

Now that Brady is gone from the Pats and the Pats' dynasty era is over, I don't dislike these teams or players like I used to. I feel Brady's legacy is pretty secure, in fact when it comes to Mahomes specifically Brady has already beat him in two playoff games.

I think I've finally reached the point where I wouldn't mind if Mahomes wins this Super Bowl. It might be one of those Michael Jordan-things. Every year I would root against Jordan in teh finals, but it was only after he retired I was like 'ya, that dude was really good though'. Where I do respect Mahomes and his ability to have his team at the top each year (just like Brady would do).

Anyone else finding it easier to root for Mahomes these days?

There are, like, a dozen teams that have yet to win super bowls that I'd sooner root for (and that includes the Bills, even if it would make me sick to do so). Foremostly among them being my father's team (The Titans).

I've nothing against Mahomes personally, but the GOAT talk by Wright and co. has been nauseating. Brady had to win 4 SBs and get to 6 before many outside New England claimed he even had a good case, but people are ready to crown Mahomes as the inevitable GOAT after 2?
It's the kind of talk that ignores how unpredictable the NFL landscape can be: case in point, Brady went a decade without winning a SB and most people circa 2011 would claim that you'd be crazy if you forecasted that Brees or Rodgers would never win another ring. Obviously, there were a variety of reasons behind those developments, but who's to say that a series of known-unknowns ("Who steps up after Kelce passes his prime?", "How much longer does Reid want to coach given that he's already entering the back half of his 60s?) and even unknown-unknowns might not interfere with the Chiefs' aspirations to catch up to other dynasties?

Childish, tbh. He has his advocates: so what? I too think Tom has the edge by the better part of a mile, but disparaging those who admire Mahomes is asinine, in my not-very-humble opinion.

I guess I'd put it this way: there's justifiable admiration for all he's accomplished so quickly (I certainly have a great deal of respect for the guys game and this season has put to rest the crazy notion that Hill made him), and then there are people who just have a platform to spout takes that, tragically, are a wee bit harder to avoid than those of your drunken fan at Arrowhead (now whether or not those mediots believe said takes? Idk). Granted, I could always, "turn the noise off", and you got me there, but what can I say? I'll also fess up to enjoying getting mad here and there.

Weird. All this Mahomes hate. He's a great player - obviously - and a decent fella - obviously.

What's your issue, haters? Honestly. I don't get it.
We know he's great. That's not the ****ing point. His voice is weird. And his brother is an annoying POS. Plus I like the idea of Mahomes being stuck on 1 SB ring for next 20 years, all the while the national media is desperately trying to justify that 1-9 in Super Bowls is better than 7-3.
