2023 Mock Drafts

None of these masturbatory exercises contains one center.

Chevy’s does but he has Schmitz from Minnesota going in the fourth round, which is absurd. He’s likely going a couple of rounds earlier than that.

We’re going to need to draft a center, people.

I agree with you and the one I posted had them taking Joe Tippmann from Wisconsin. The issue for me is having not paid enough attention to the prospects this season, other than Schmitz, Patterson from Norte Dame, and the guys at Michigan, OSU, and Georgia I don‘t know who to look at yet. Since I infer from your posting name and avatar that you’re an MSU Spartans fan, I’d be interested to know whom you like beyond Schmitz), especially from the Big 10.

The other thing for me in the mocks so far is that I’m emphasizing LT and RT and a bigger CB, with ILB, DT, and OC at the next priority level. With them now locked in at 14, I think they have a great shot at one of the best CBs or WRs in the draft and may be better served by taking one of them there rather than say the fourth or even third best LT prospect, but if that’s what happens then they’ll need to come out of Round 3 having double dipped at OT.

Finally, PFF‘s simulator is the only one I’ve seen so far that is worth playing with but - as you would expect this early- their rankings have a ways to go I think and they haven’t updated to omit guys like Bo Nix and Jared Verse that have announced they are staying in colleg.

What if Mayer the TE from ND is available when we pick?

Love this first three round mock draft by a writer dude for the Chargers. It could work for us—if we didn’t have such glaring weaknesses at OT and an outside CB.

I’m a HUGE Braden Trice fan. I think he could have a great NFL career. A guy few know about.

I saw him push back Jarrett Horst, a big LT for Michigan State, a lot more effectively than the Michigan first-rounders last. Yeah, Skinny Jeans Aidan Hutchinson had no where near the same power as Trice.

Jaelyn Duncan at 45? That would be IDEAL for the Patriots.

The kid is clearly a first round talent. Imagine if Leon Gray were a couple of inches taller…

When Michigan State’s Jacoby Windman, who I think was tied at the time for sacks in the NCAA, played Duncan he was absolutely dominated. He never even got close to Baby Tua, Maryland’s QB.

I saw the game live and was keyed on LT play.

It reminds me of a guy from Purdue in 1999 who did the same thing to Michigan State All American Robaire Smith, a fast DE. Ever hear of MATT LIGHT?

There was one pivotal play where Smith did a late hit on Drew Brees on a third down incompletion. Gave them the first down and an eventual TD.

Saban went nuts on Smith on the sideline, who ended up having a solid NFL career as a bulked up NT.

#46 (and '24 4th) to Cardinals for DeAndre Hopkins

Too many trades. Looks as though some second-rounders are never used or dealt away.

Nevermind the last one, that PFF simulator is seriously out of date with rankings.......try this one here if you want more up to date ones.

1 Stud WR, 1 Stud Center, 1 Stud Tackle, a very good CB and another good OT, 2 good DL's, a decent Edge and 2 good LB's...Also a very efficient RB..Wish I could get TE Tucker Kraft in there, seems better than Kilcaid to me. Same player but tougher.UntiFinaltled.jpg

New mock up from the athletic's Dane Brugler Dane Brugler’s NFL Mock Draft, 2.0: Which team makes a move up for Bryce Young?

Pats 1st pick- Myles Murphy
Still on the board at 14- Quentin Johnston, Jordan Addison, Cam Smith, Devon Witherspoon, Kelee Ringo, Deonte Banks
Pats 2nd round pick- Rashee Rice
Still on the board at 46- Zay Flowers, Jack Campbell, Matt Bergeron, Anton Harris, Emmanuel Forbes, Jaelyn Duncan, Dawand Jones

Personally, if the Pats pass up on Johnston at 14 I'm going to be mad. I'd prefer they pick a tackle at 14 but all the top tier ones were gone in this mock. If the board fell like this I'd probably want them to pick whichever CB or WR they think is best.

In the second round, I would be annoyed if the Pats picked another receiver in the second with Zay Flowers on the board. He would provide a similar deep threat to Thornton, except he runs better routes and is way more of a threat with the ball in the open field. I would love to see all those failed screen passes to receivers this year go to a guy like Zay. Also seem to be a couple corners and tackles who could help in the second. This team needs offensive weapons, both Johnston and Flowers would provide big play ability both over the top and running away from defenders in space.

What do people think of this mock? Specifically Murphy and Rice? Any positions you would want to see targeted in the first two rounds besides CB, OT and WR?
