Drew Brees and Deshaun Watson led the entire NFL in passing, their teams won single digit games and missed the playoffs.

The way you people put QB’s on a pedestal is absurd.
Yeah the team was trailing alot. Defenses probably gave up certain passes to kill clock.

Which is why passing yardage can be misleading.

Am I the only one who still has little respect for Trevor Lawrence as a legit QB? All he did was throw the ball short all night (hitch, shallow cross, bubble-screen) to a laughable degree. The only reason why it worked in the 2nd half was because the Chargers stopped playing aggressive tight coverage. To be fair, I give Trevor full credit for that one coverage breakdown and that last TD pass. That's all.

Really, that "comeback" was all on Staley finding a way to lose. They had figured out Lawrence to a tee, but just stopped doing it.

The fact remains he still held it together and led his team to victory against the odds. That is a big feather in his cap.

Jags will be totally outclassed in that one. Incredible comeback win tonight though.
Agreed on outclassed.

Jacksonville winning would be up there with winning in Denver in 96.

A total shock.

Chargers have a lot of talent on the field . but their by far the biggest talent is finding ways to lose games that matter -.-

No wonder the fan base is so thin . hard to survive the constant hype&out..
Bad coaching. The strategy should have shifted from contesting short passes.

They have idiot hotheads like Bosa on D and gamblers who get burned like Asante.

The Chargers with a new coach and a new tackle (assuming Slater comes back) will be scary, but their WRs are a little long in the tooth.

Playing defensively has almost always to be the wrong tactic ...
Your team/players are flying off every snap ... and then you tell
them just remove the big play of opponent ... such an awful job
of coaching ... prevent defense sucks goat d!ck. Your players are
giving the team everything they have ... then you put a halter on them like a horse.

The irony of any Patriot fan saying all Lawrence did was "throw the ball short"

I remember a certain guy who dink and dunked his way to 6 Superbowls and no one cared then.

That's an obvious stretch. Not even worth debating.

- Chargers fire Staley and immediately land Sean Payton due to having a good QB

- Patriots hire Bill O'Brien as OC to go back to their traditional offense

- Raiders get obliterated by Chiefs and Payton-led Chargers in their division in 2023

- Raiders fire Josh McDaniels due to ditching Carr and awful record

- O'Brien turns around Pats offense in a year and gets a head coach job due to it in 2024

- Patriots bring back McDaniels as OC to replace O'Brien again

Bing bang boom
Funny part about this plan is when he comes back and asks Kraft if that "future Patriots HC guarantee" he used to have is still valid and Kraft says "sorry bud that's been transferred to Mayo. You'll probably never get another chance as an HC again so do you want a 10 year OC contract now or do 5 years now and then renew later?"

In all seriousness if the chargers do fire Staley any interest as a possible OC?

Edit: Nevermind didn’t realize he was LAR DC.

He actually is a great defensive mind. The plan they had against tua in that snf game this year was outstanding…. Hadnt seen tua look that bad this year besides when playing concussed or just returning from one.

Just an awful head coach

Needs better coaching, that's clear. He's three years in and still throwing the ball like that. That's a horrible disservice to that kid.
I didn't see Ross's post but I do not put that on Herbert. 300 yards, no INTs. Played as well as he could have.

I like him a lot because he stands in there and puts it all on the line for his team. Reminds me of Marino in that sense, a Marino who can run.

I think he projects to be the kind of QB who can go to a SB and stay in the pocket no matter the pass rush

Still have to give him some credit. He made some pretty good throws tonight. Still overrated, but you don't come back from 27-0 without making enough plays to win. He deserves it, especially for overcoming that first-half performance.
When?

The Chargers played press coverage the entire 1st half. All those short passes didn't work. Then they just....stopped. All those short passes suddenly worked for Trevor.

That's an obvious stretch. Not even worth debating.

What's a stretch? This is what the haters said. I heard it for decades.

They won 45-42 in a crazy one in 2017 against Pittsburgh to play us. The statline by Roethlisberger compared to Bortles was nuts:

Beating KC would certainly be up there if that's how it played out.

Love all you QB "experts" mocking Lawrence...let me ask you genii...who the eff would you have taken in the draft? Brock Purdy? A game win like THIS early in a QB's career after such a horrific first half will only propel this kid's career and give him a confidence boost that will display itself in 2023. Lawrence has arrived...but yeah, go back to pimping Lamary Jackson like the pre-pubescent pinheads you are...

I can’t understand how Herbert took the 20th ranked defense of the Chargers to the playoffs, yet when they lose in the first round despite giving up 31 points after kicking the stuffing out of the Jags the entire game how someone can point the finger at the QB and say “it’s his fault.” The stupidity of that is beyond description… but it happens.
