It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Your point is noted, but at the same time I think it’s worth acknowledging the differences with a generation that’s grown up being able to just disengage with anything they don’t like and go find an echo chamber that supports their point of view on the internet somewhere at any time, instead of just having to adapt to the community that they’re physically a part of. Athletes probably have that lessened a bit since the locker room brings that physical community back around, but still something to think about.“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

There’s nothing new about this generation. It is as it’s always been. And 20 years from now, this group will start saying that the next generation is disrespectful and entitled.
There is merit in the point that Brady seemed more willing to respect authority. It was also a much different situation from Mac given the solid coaching from Wiess, a much stronger surrounding team and the expectations that come with being a first round draft pick. With BB taking the lead on making changes and implicitly admitting his mistakes, Mac also needs to do the same. The last few games are hopeful signs that process has already started since new info coming out is from mid season when things were really hitting the fan.The biggest thing that separates Brady from Jones, beside the 20 year difference and the bigger brain, is what's hurting Jones now with Bill. Brady was a more subservient QB with an extreme sense of respect for authority. That made him the perfect player for an authoritarian like Bill. Mac Jones isn't like that and maybe no QBs are like that now. It could be a sign that Bill and Patricia are behind the times with the newer players and that they may need to move on from the my way or the highway approach.

Troubling news for members of the Mac Jones Haters *********** Club: whenever the Patriots pro shop issues items like this (below), the player usually sticks around for the coming season. So barring the unforeseen, the kid you love to hate will be here in 2023. You might want to get your own copy now regardless; if Mac is traded, it will become a collector's item. If not, you can vent your anger throwing darts at it. A recommended slogan for you: Go Pats In Spite of Mac!

'First of all - don’t think it’s fair to label all of these listed posters “Mac Haters”. I don’t think I’ve hated on him. There’s a big divide between being critical of someone and just trashing them. I’m critical of some parts of his performance and his conduct, at times, but if the team does elect to keep him (which at the end of the day, I think is still the much more likely outcome) I’ll absolutely root for him to succeed and hope that the situation is better.
Second - I don’t know how a wall calendar can be indicative of a roster move (or lack thereof). Did the pro shop call Bill and ask him if the player is definitely staying before they made it? Also, I see it says it “includes September - December 2022” which leads me to believe it was published last fall, before most of these challenges ever occurred and the concept of Mac not being on the team in 2023 had really entered anyone’s minds.
He took over a team that had won 5 of its previous 18 games and was ranked dead last in Dr. Z's power rankings before his first start. Bill Belichick also wasn't the deity he is now. If anything due to both the circumstances of the team and Bill's status at the time he was drafted, Mac should have been expected to give Bill a lot more deference than Brady did. There is merit in the point that Brady seemed more willing to respect authority. Bears vs Pats
Mac Jones
Drives
1 - Punt - 2 pass attempts - 1 completion - Passes of -1 yard = - 1 yard
2 - Punt - 1 attempt - 1 completion - Passes of 2 yards = 2 yards
3 - INT - 4 pass attempts - 1 completion - Passes of 12 yards = 12 yards
Mac 42% completion rate - 7 attempts - 3 completions - 13 passing yards - 0 TDs - 1 INT
Bears 10 - 0 Pats
Enter Bailey Zappe
Drives
1 - TD - 3 attempts - 3 completions - Passes of 4, 20 and 30 = 54 yards
2 - TD - 1 attempt - 1 completion - Passes of 43 yards = 43 yards
Zappe 100% completion rate - 4 attempts - 4 completions - 97 passing yards - 1 TD - 0 INT
Bears 10 - 14 Pats
What did Bill Beleichick do wrong? Show me where the wrong decision was made to sit the Bambino?
Zappe had the exact same OC, OL, WRs, TEs as poor old Mac yet when Mac loses its Patricia's fault, but when Zappe loses its all because of him.
Zappe is 2 - 0 as a starter. He nearly pulled of beating Green Bay in Green Bay coming in cold as ice of the bench. He started out hot vs Chicago but made mistakes that need to be corrected.

But Mac was shown yelling at Phat Matt. Where was he yelling at BB on the sidelines? I'll hang up and listen. He took over a team that had won 5 of its previous 18 games and was ranked dead last in Dr. Z's power rankings before his first start. What list?First of all - don’t think it’s fair to label all of these listed posters “Mac Haters”.
He never bought into the plan on offense for a second and has been whining ever since, now possibly going over Bill's head to solicit coaching advice elsewhere. But sure, yelling is the only way to show insubordination. But Mac was shown yelling at Phat Matt. Where was he yelling at BB on the sidelines? I'll hang up and listen.
There's a good reason why a guy with the stats that he had in college fell to the 4th round. Tbh I think the Pats could have signed him as a UDFA.Why is it that people cannot see that Zappe does not have an NFL arm?
I am honored to be included within a group of rascals who are ruining Patsfans with their negativity, I guess. I have been pretty consistent with my view of Mac:
I think Belichick set Mac up to fail this year. AND I don't believe Mac is not good enough to be good enough, but I am fine seeing a year 3 with a real OC. AND I hope to be proven wrong.
Maybe Ian will finally rid this board of these radical viewpoints, and you and the Space man can rename this place the Vagina Monologues while bemoaning every obstacle that is keeping Mac from greatness. Or maybe another moderatrix will come along who will try to keep anti-groupthink at bay.
Until then, opinions that Mac isn't very good are just going to have to be endured if they slip through the mutes, ignores, and other tools of the sensitive.
As a Patriots fan, I really hope I am wrong about Mac. Would love to eat crow.
But the offensive system sucked. I'm sure if you're boss came up with a work plan that was terrible, you'd gripe either to coworkers or to the boss directly. He never bought into the plan on offense for a second and has been whining ever since, now possibly going over Bill's head to solicit coaching advice elsewhere. Why dont you get to work and show everyone with facts that your boy Mac has an NFL arm?Why is it that people cannot see that Zappe does not have an NFL arm?

Right. As it relates to generational differences, you're correct, this will always happen. I'm not necessarily complaining because I try to have an open mind because of the above. I think that with the increase in technological advances that went from every 50 years to decades and now seems like a yearly thing, the differences are happening faster. Look at Law, Wilfork, and Mayo all basically saying the same thing, and now throw in Jules. That's a playing period from 1995-2020. These guys are Gen X and Millenials, yet they're all pointing out differences with the younger Millenials and the Zers.“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. There were no issues year 1, the problems started this year. It also seems as if Mac was influenced when BB stepped in after he heard about reaching out to other coaches. He took over a team that had won 5 of its previous 18 games and was ranked dead last in Dr. Z's power rankings before his first start. Bill Belichick also wasn't the deity he is now. This guy has an interesting take on millennials...
