Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Bills beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Sorry but whatever his personal situation is or profession does not give him permission to treat people like ****. I don't care if hes a CEO of a F500 or works at Walgreens stocking shelves. It's irrelevant.

There are posters on this board battling cancer and have major health-issues, going through divorces or have recently lost spouses, children and close family members who still treat others with respect and decency.

Anything short of an acknowledgement of his lousy behavior and an apology to Ashley is unacceptable.

Fair point. I think the mods (Ashley in particular) are taking too much of the heat here.

I'll let everyone in on a secret - the mods here are just figureheads. Behind the scenes, I am the mastermind responsible for all decisions as it pertains to deleting posts, banning users, and so on, in the same way that the Illuminati control the heads of state around the world (especially ones with full blown dementia who were appointed but not actually elected by the people, like Joe Biden.)

So if anyone has any complaints about the way this place is run, you can take it up with DEEZ NUTS.

Judon had a great season with 15.5 sacks. He slowed down again w/ only 2.5 sacks in the last 7 games but great season nonetheless. We should extend him. He probably will want more AAY $$.

White was always on top of Agholor and thought the play screamed back shoulder pass but Mac threw it like Agholor had a step
White pushed off from Nelson downfield or Nelson would have had a step on him. Clear DPI in my opinion.

Ash, everybody likes you. You bring a lot of positive energy to the forum as a poster. Nobody has issues w/ your opinions. There have been several posts specifically talking about your performance as a moderator. This isn't personal but your response above isn't adequate.

1. You're a mod, nobody can put you on ignore.
2. Critique includes you being subjective in the enforcement of your mod duties:
a. Targeting posters.
b. Bating posters.
c. Getting into arguments w/ posters.
d. Deleting posts or banning posters from threads for minimal comments not disimilar to what many others post.
e. Labeling long time "Patsfan" posters as trolls.

All of these things have happened. We've all seen it happen. There isn't a single poster that thinks @Patjew is a troll, yet he brought up all of the above points.

@Ross12 tried to address some of these issues as it relates to him in a well thought out post where he acknowledged some things and thanked posters for their feedback.

I know for a fact there's a group DM of IBWT posters that talk about other posters and target or label them as "haters" or "trolls." They seem to be using you to do their bidding by dming you. This isn't HS w/ all the cliques (though it feels like it some times).

I don't envy your role. It can't be easy. I couldn't do it. But it would be nice it you could address these critiques of your mod duties and not take it as a personal attack. Again, nobody dislikes you. This isn't personal.
Thanks for taking the time and writing this post. I won't bore everyone on here with explanations of the above but welcome you or anyone to PM me. I respond to every pm post.

Just two quick points: I do ban posters from the GDT and the PGDT...typically only those that are negative and are fans of other teams. The one's that never post a positive remark, you know who they are. I get Pm'd from posters who don't want to be in the GDT anymore because of the constant negativity and I'm trying to avoid having the GDT turn into a clown show.

Second point- you brought up a poster @Patjew . I've never called him a troll or had a bad word about him. Evidently, he thinks I'm not a good moderator, which is fine, but I know the good posters from the posters who troll and all that I'm trying to do is make this place better.

I love it here, I've met some great people and have become friends with them. Just a great place. Too many posters are thin skinned and can't take being called out.

So with that said, let's hope for a great off season!!!!!!!!! I have a feeling 2023 is going to be an amazing year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on a college bball board for one school. Another message board as well.

I have to say that this is one of the most unmoderated boards I've ever been on. Moderation / Curation / etc. is a fact of life on these boards, and it always has been. I get that a lot of regular posters don't like it (because no one likes being muzzled). But curation is necessary when a certain kind of tenor drives away readers who no longer see anything of value.

Even on a massive site like Twitter, the moderators try to make sure it doesn't turn into a free for all.

Ignore functions only help up to a point.

I'm one of the people who would prefer more moderation rather than less, if only because it becomes a slog and waste of time to go thru and read the same exact post 100x over several months.

This doesn't mean I am against negativity. In fact, I was open to both Mac Jones and Patricia improving over the year. I was eventually won over to negative arguments against both. I'm totally fine with that kind of critique that is specific. There's a lot of nonsense on here though that's hard to get through. I'm only one person.

Is that true? That's kinda f*cked up.
You are being properly moderated.

Are you going to cry about it? I would assume not, because surely you recognize that any time you have been punished in the past, it was entirely justified.

Agree on the point there are posters that constantly repeat the same things over and over again. It becomes annoying, even if I agree w/ whatever point they are making. I've actually muted posters that I agree with but don't want to read their point being repeated constantly.

That's the thing, the mute feature works. Maybe Ian should require everyone pass a routine course (5 min.) on using site features.

I disagree on excessive moderation because then it becomes censorship. Let's be real, this is a football forum. There's absolutely zero reason for anyone to be triggered by someone's posts. If you find them annoying, then f*cking mute them.

I have 1 thing: Uche could have made the sack instead of flying by Allen on the long TD to Brown. He's agile enough to have played that better.
Yea I agree on that play. A bit too overzealous in going after Allen no question but had a great game and an overall great season.

is this group 4 real? what does IBWT stand for?

I'm not as down on this loss compared to last year's playoff exit for that reason. For the first time in a while the needle is pointing up on the defensive side of the ball.
If we had the 2004, 2014, 2018 or 2021 coaching staffs we'd be on to Cincinnati.

That is what upsets me.

I agree with most of what you say but the personal insults can be left off the board, if you disagree state your case but don't take the opportunity to level a personal attack on someone's intelligence, football IQ etc.

Nah my boy Dikembe is the king around here

HOMER ALERT: Wow! I was expecting/hoping for a bit more positivity in this thread. It is really hard for me TODAY to not feel good about yesterday's game. While watching the game yesterday, I admit, I was a bit frustrated at times (two KO TD's allowed). But today, after reflecting on it I feel like it was a fun and entertaining experience. It was a tight game most of the way, even when we were down 12 points with 8 minutes to go and the ball, it still felt like we had a good chance to make a comeback. The imperfections are there, but they are not as bad as some of the teams I have watched this year and the gap between the top teams and the bottom teams seems to be shrinking. Year in and year out we see teams make dramatic improvements, while others take steps back. The NFL is realizing their dream that started way back in the late 70's as they aimed for parity. My complaints of yesterday's game and the season in general are few and I am thankful that I was entertained yesterday (along with most of the games this year) as my favorite football team was battling for a chance to play in the playoffs. I am elated to see that BB is returning next season and am excited to see what the Patriots do this off-season.

That's an interesting philosophical argument. I agree that good coaching makes a difference. To me, talented players >>> good coaches. Taking a look at this team the last two seasons:

1. In 2021, the team spent the most $$ in FAcy and by all accounts drafted a few good players between 2020-21 including a 1st Rd QB. The team won 10 games, ended up 2nd in the division, 1 game back from the division winner and got the #7 seed but lost in the WC round.

2. In 2022, the team made very little moves during FAcy, had another decent draft (debatable) and largely put out the same roster. There was a change in offensive coaching w/ persons familiar w/ the system. The team won 8 games, ended up 3rd in the division, 5 games back from the division winner and ended with the #9 seed missing the playoffs.

Looking at the other teams in the division during this period:

2020: playoffs in bold
Bills - 13

MIA - 10
NEP - 7
NYJ - 2

2021:
Bills - 11 (= talent, same HC/OC)
NEP - 10 (++ talent, same HC/OC)
MIA - 9 (= talent, new OC)
NYJ - 4 (+ talent, new HC/OC)

2022:
Bills - 13 (+ talent, new OC)
MIA - 9 (++ talent, new HC/OC)
NEP - 8 (- talent, new OC)
NYJ - 7 (++ talent, same HC/OC)

The #1 priority and main goal used to be "winning the division." Now, we're just praying for 3 other teams to lose their games in Wk 18 so we can back into the #7 seed. How many believe that good coaching is going to win us the division with the existing level of players? Imo, you need difference makers to win divisions. Pats have two: Judon & Rham. That's just not enough. Anyway, that's my opinion.

The enlarged/bolded is where we disagree and to me the essential difference in this team regressing offensively in 2022. The offensive system was changed drastically from what McDaniels ran because Patricia/Judge lacked requisite expertise to make it work. The Patriots had a playoff-caliber offensive roster that was grossly mishandled. Handing it over to a former defensive specialist who never called plays before while ALSO making him OL coach was preposterous.

Thankfully, your argument that player talent is all that matters should be addressed soon either way depending on what changes are made. Perhaps one thing we can agree upon: assuming he retains the starting nod out of training camp, 2023 will be Mac Jones' "prove it" season regardless of who becomes OC.
