I like the Jets Defense against a rookie qb

Joe Flacco? This game just turned in MIA's favor. Why not keep White, is he injured?

It doesn’t work. I used to do that. You’re still disappointed. So, you basically spend days being disappointed in order to prep yourself for disappointment, then, when the disappointment actually happens, you’re even more disappointed.

My theory why people go negative before events that COULD make them happy, like an important football game: lack of emotional intelligence. They struggle with unknowns that might abruptly change how they feel. Assuming disappointment before it actually occurs might render the final effect less "jarring," but as you say, the bad feeling is needlessly extended by negative anticipation. It also blunts enjoyment of a surprise positive outcome while shaking one's faith in how reality is "supposed" to unfold.

This is why sports are great for learning emotional intelligence -- by staying positive against the odds, winning becomes sweeter. You also are better able to bounce back from disappointment to face the next challenge with positive energy that could prove self-fulfilling. When all seems lost, remember 28-3!

Yep ruled out with a rib injury.

Tough break as Pallardy has been awful. Hope Bailey heals up and is ready for t/c

The GDT is a case study in emotional intelligence.

I am sure the national hatred for the Pats is going to be off the charts. I wish the post season didn't hang in the balance. I guess it shows the importance of winning the close games (like the GD lateral) when the opportunity is there.
I'm not sure there's national hatred of the Pats given the last 3 seasons. Nobody ever discounts the Pats but only out of respect for Belichick. We've seen several analysts flat out say this is not a good team and shouldn't make the playoffs. Outside of NE, nobody wants to see the Pats in the playoffs but it's not because of hatred. People would rather see MIA, JAX, PIT, DET in the playoffs because of their offenses or QBs.

Rarely do I meet a fan of any other team that does not hate the Patriots. It's hard for them to get past the 20 year run and the media hype over Spygate /deflategate/ other made-up gates.

In my own personal experience the hatred level has gone down since TB12 left. Ironically that coincided with the team no longer being a contender. Additionally, Tom has the "Christian Laettner" persona which was also a contributing factor.

A positive attitude is everything. It's the one thing we can always control.

Sure based on history. I'm just saying that based on last 3 seasons and the fact Brady is gone, nobody hates them because they no longer fear them to win another SB. Yet, there's still apprehension to completely discount them because of Belichick. With Belichick there's always a chance.

Cincy is better than Buffalo.
They could be, but I'd rather play Bills & Cincy instead of the Bills twice. I don't think we make the playoffs but if we do then we sure aren't gonna beat the Bills back to back on the road. If we upset the Bills once, we could take that momentum into beating the same Cincy that we were a fumble away from beating recently.

Yup. I'm a believer in self-fulfilling prophecy. Staying positive against the odds can help you find solutions toward desired outcome you otherwise wouldn't have considered.

I think Cincy Buff and KC are all very close. Imo,the 3 best teams in the nfl,not just the afc. One of them will win the SIfB.
But Cincy is playing the best right now and thats what matters.
Burrow is also the best of the 3 qbs right now. Our odds are long beating any of those 3 on the road. But not impossible.
Jon and Marcus Jones plus Mills all could be back this week.
If you can run the ball and play defense you always have a chance. Pats are capable of doing both.

People hate other teams' greatness, and we had a 20 year run. No one hates the Lions... no one hates the Browns....

Palardy has been pretty bad but if you compare his numbers with Bailey's, they're nearly identical.

Yards per punt: 42.6 to 42.1
Net yards per punt: 36.9 to 35.2
Touchback%: 13.2% to 13.5%

Bailey's dead cap hit for 2023 is $4.5 mil so the team will bring him back. They can cut him after next season if he doesn't perform well.
