The media is at the hospital now. I'm sure they're asking all the staff what they know, Anyone spills something to reporters they're done.

I mean not to joke at all but this is when TMZ starts throwing out bribes.

With all the strides the league has made to make the game safer, it has caught up to the oil/gas industry. Incredible checks/balances for safety - and they work. Except when they don't - then it is generally catastrophic.
Maybe a bit in oil and gas. I worked on pipelines a decade ago. They wouldn't even turn the damn pressure down on exposed pipelines you are working with heavy machinery feet away.

Ok. Right sentiment, bad delivery. He could have focused on the difficulty of the decision - it is a multi-billion dollar business that impacts thousands of employees. But to say "How?" is a bit crass.

Right. So « it’s purely seeding ».

Yes, BUF would benefit greatly by having the bye. But in the end, it’s two playoff teams who are looking to see where they will place in the tournament seeding.

It’ll be an unpopular position, because people (and fans) love « fairness » and want « everything to be fair ».

Life isn’t fair. It’s grossly unfair. The young player fights for his life, it’s unfair.

I guess I am saying that if the players are rightfully shook up, maybe going winning % and just skip this game, would make sense. The NFL will SAY it’s to be « fair » and fans will agree. But it’ll be for the $. Not fairness.

It also has direct ramifications on draft picks and rookie salary allocation. The two teams on the bye won't pick higher than 23. And that can make a difference if the picks have been traded to other teams. If Buffalo get's knocked out early, should they get a higher seeded pick because their record has 1 fewer game in it?

If Hamlin is in recovery, I think they can play the Buff-Cincy game Wednesday and continue the rest of the season as normal (or maybe push Buffalo-NE and Balt-Cincy back a day to Monday night). Wednesday to Sunday is the same amount of rest as Sunday to Thursday so it would not be unheard of to play on 3 days rest.

If the worst happens, then Buffalo certainly won't want to take the field anytime soon.

Hopefully the player will pull through. Prayers for him and his family. Also feel for the guy who tackled him. He is probably the most emotionally messed up after the family.

Hamlin did the tackling and the hit was routine, not flagrant or illegal. He popped to his feet immediately then collapsed.

Man. That’s someone’s son…just hate it.

Hope he pulls through…10 years as a Cardiac Rep tells me it’s dicey.
This is bigger than football.
How incredibly sobering.
Reminds us this is just a game and doesn’t really matter.

Yeah I don't think he should get all the heat he's getting over it though
