Geno Smith may be a better example

Daniels Jones wasn't bad his rookie season, in fact he had four outstanding games. He had an awful head coach in Pat Shurmur that season. Arguably he had an even worse head coach in Joe Judge for his 2nd and 3rd seasons when he played poorly. He's better this season with Daboll but they're a run heavy offense... 5th in rush attempts and 27th in pass attempts. DJ's job in Daboll's offense is don't screw up. The one game he surpassed 300 yards, he also had 2 picks and they lost in a blowout to Detroit. In 9 starts he has less than 200 yards passing. DJ is contributing to the running game, having his best season there, with 583 yards, 5.6 Y/A and 5 TDs. He also leads the NFL with a INT% of 1.0% so he's fulfilling that requirement.
daniel bellinger their rookie 4th rd pick TE has 199 rec yards, 25 receptions, 2 TD
jonnu smith a veteran second year in this offense: 224 yards, 24 rec, 0 TD

just let that sink for a moment

A good, healthy O-line will also go a long way in improving Mac's performance!!!!
Having NFL quality backups would help. Acquiring help when our players were injured would help.

But yes, we need at least a GOOD, HEALTHY OL. We had that going into camp. There was nothing about our 2022 OL that couldn't have been handled by a competent GM.

LOL, that's also a true statement
There is a long 2022 list of wins and of excellent performances by weak and/or inexperienced QB's.

Are the subs who had played and play for SF, BAL, PITT, NYJ, NYG, MIA, SEA and others that much better than Jones?

Which coach taught Mac not to throw to a wide open receiver and instead throw it to the flat in front of 2 defenders? Was that Patricia in his ear during the play? Enough with these excuses.

And enough with these contrived condemnations -- one after the other, as if Mac Jones is the ONLY second-year NFL quarterback, in his second system, with an OC who doesn't know his fat ass from a hole in the ground, to not see an open receiver. Your omniscience must be pretty special to view a still screen shot and immediately understand what receivers had what assignments along with the QB's post-snap read progressions on that play for whatever the down/distance/time happened to be. But of course to you, because you SO WANT to make Mac look bad, it's "obvious."

In a way, this is just another version of the brady vs belichick debate, albeit at a much lower level.

Life is short, you're wasting your time with all this negativity. You really should find another team to root for with a quarterback you can get behind. Tampa Bay might be an option. Oh, wait ...

I saw that during the broadcast, why isn't anyone talking about it? I figured maybe he was ineligible from running out of bounds or something. What the heck???
Stills don't always tell the whole story. It could've just been designed to go to the flat from the start

hard to disagree here

Yup. It's not surprising that a 70 yo coach with a bunch of hard ass old school assistants is having a hard time reaching his Gen Y/Z players. There's a reason why there's only been a handful of coaches in their 70s and their records aren't great. The end is sooner than many here believe.

I find it incredibly ironic that Kraft was faced 3 years ago with having to pick between his GOAT HC and 42 yo GOAT QB and stuck with the coach. He may now have to pick between his 70 yo GOAT HC and a 24 yo not-the-goat QB. I just can't see Bill and Mac being here together next season unless Bill benches him. Mac is the leader of the uprising against the coaches and Bill doesn't forgive easily. It's going to be an interesting offseason.

what a stupid play design if your QB is not like Lamar Jackson or Hurts who is actually pretty fast to outrun anybody, the play design is great if you'd have a WR and/or TE down there to throw to as well (who is actually not hiding behind the defender but rather gets open within half an hour)
I'd had put Thornton there to run straigt down and let Mac air it out (rather than having him trying to outrun the DE/LBs there)
btw really nice awerness by Crosby there or who was it chasing Mac? never bit on the fake, very good defensive play here, give credit where it is due

Let's play a little game here. If you switched Brock purdy and Mac Jones in San Fran/New England do you think they both would look totally different? You should know the answer here....

I'm not sure how anyone can watch last year and this year and then conclude that the entire problem is Mac Jones and not coaching. He hasn't helped but the biggest problem here is the coaching staff, the play calls, the play design etc. They have no idea what they are doing. And that has totally ruined Mac Jones to the point where his fundamentals are failing.

There is just too much regression in the offense from last year to this with the SAME or Better personnel. When everyone is having a career worst year it's coaching. Bourne went from a 900 yard receiver to not seeing the field. He said they DONT even talk about defensive tendencies of the opposing team or make adjustments. They just run their plays.

But I am supposed to believe that as long as we replace the QB then Patricia/judge are perfectly fine? C'mon...that's just nonsense.

This coaching staff needs to be replaced with REAL offensive coaches running a REAL NFL offense. Now if Mac still looks this bad with that...then let's have a conversation. Until then it's a big question mark.
