Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Raiders beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

BB can only be considered GOAT HC if - and only if - he takes Mac Jones to a Super Bowl and wins? Only under those conditions? All of his other achievements and accomplishments are moot and he will never be considered the GOAT unless BB takes Mac Jones to a Super Bowl and wins?

Strange stuff.
Yes.

Why?

Becuase a head coach is a coach - not a player on the field.

Head coaches are dependent on players (who actually play the game and perform with their own skills and talent).

And too much of his accomplishments as a head coach are tied to one player - Brady.

And we always factor in success with others as apart of any GOAT debate.

So we need to look at how he has been as a head coach without the most clutch, most consistent, longest lasting QB in league history.

It's not been good. Almost 10 full seasons. 1 playoff win. 3 winning seasons only.

So it begs the question: how do we know for sure that we would be calling him the GOAT if he didn't have Brady specifically?

Espeically when the big hoopla surrounding Bill is that he can win with any QB.

That applies more to Joe Gibbs

They had the ball was just a little over 2 minutes to play. Raiders out of time outs. One first down made, you win the game. But they refuse to pass. they go 3 and out, Raiders tie the game on a BS call then the punt **** show. But make one first down on your last posession, none of the other stuff happens. Conservative playcalling has cost them all season.
THIS. They make a 1st down on the drive before the LVR TD and we never witness what happened at the end. The clown show at the end is burying what really matters: The Mac Jones led offense sucks ass.

Pats drives: 12
6 Punts (1 blocked)
3 FGs
1 1st half kneel down
1 TD (rushing)
1 clown show drive w/ 32 sec.

This game was the difference between having a 64% chance to make the playoffs or what now is a 22% chance. This is how our 1st RD QB responds? He had good protection. The running game was working. Yet, he completes 42% of his passes? For 112 yds and 0 TDs? 3.6 yds/pass? 3.6? WTF man!

Come on man. Stop your unprofessional histrionics on the field, sack-up and carry the team on your back for a change. I can't believe you guys are fine with a QB that has to rely on shutdown D, TDs by D/ST, and a bunch of FGs to win games. What happened to the Patriots winning standards? Are we now the Jete, Bears, Lions fans? We need to demand better effort from our coaches, and players. Are we really content with these bush league standards? It's embarrassing.

I thought I saw it all!!!! Horrible officiating, cost us the game and a horrible play by Meyers....enough said.....Take it over everyone, lets discuss.
The end of the game was a bizarre brainfart where a Patriots player literally throws the ball to the other team for the game-losing touchdown.

However let's not let the offense off the hook. They only scored 1 offensive touchdown on the day, and that was from a phenomenal individual effort by Stevenson. The rest of the offense was quiet as crickets, ending up kicking field goals instead of scoring TDs in the red area again and again. This game only got this close because of the Kyle Dugger pick SIX.

I'm not going to let Matt Patricia, Mac Jones, or anyone else on the offense that managed to lose this game off the hook.

Sure I didn't like the officiating, you can make arguments that a Raider's toe might have been on the chalk. But facing facts, this Patriots team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. This used to happen to hapless teams like the Jets. Now the Patriots are the team that look ill-disciplined, lacking composure, and making bad plays at the end of games to lose it. Coaching and situational football used to be our strength: Now it's our WEAKNESS.

Let's face it, the defense is the strongest part of this team, but even the defensive TD today wasn't enough to seal the win. The offense needs to carry its own weight in close games. It can't. I don't care what BB says about the offense being perfectly fine. We fans who have eyes can clearly see that it's not. He's trying to save face by not admitting he made HORRIBLE choices in the offseason by not replacing our OC with a an experienced offensive coordinator. Matt Patricia isn't an NFL caliber offensive play caller, he's bush league. On top of that hiring a FAILED coach like Joe Judge to be Mac's QB coach just to save a few bucks adds insult on top of injury and sets the team up for failure.

And can we please consider not riding the Mac Jones ship until it sinks to the bottom of the ocean like the Titanic?

Mac Just doesn't have what it takes to lead the offense this year. It's time to FREE Bailey Zappe!!!

i know its the fashion to call for Bb's head but i will say this , he needs to clean house with a lot the players too along with the OC fiasco. These guys dont have any sense of urgency or pride or alertness or attitude. its great players like henry are standup guys but doesnt excuse drops penalties mistakes in lining up and hiding under the garb of bad playcalling. Being standup guy is great but play smarter.

Craziest loss I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been a fan since 1975. Almost 50 years, never have seen anything like it. Unfortunately Stevenson and Meyers (especially Meyers), will always be remembered for that play. Meyers will never live that down, unless he has a Super Bowl winning catch or something.

This game also showed that Mac isn’t the answer. Stevenson and the defense are the reason the Pats came back and took the lead (briefly). Look, I gave a ****load of blame to Cam Newton when he threw 8 TD passes all year, said it was the worst QBing I’ve seen by the Pats in ages, well Mac has SEVEN (none in the last 2). Granted he missed 4 games, but still. This was supposed to be his 2nd year jump, yet he looks horrendous.

Mac may get one more chance. He was certainly handicapped by coaching and Belichick inexplicably changing an offense that Mac was successful in. They MUST hire an OC/QB coach and MUST get more explosive WR weapons to see if Mac can succeed. Mecole Hardman is a free agent I believe, and Jerry Jeudy is unhappy in Denver I believe (and he played with Mac). These are the type of moves that are necessary. But if they DON’T make these kind of moves, they are doomed for mediocrity for years to come. Oline improvements would be nice too.
More than a big playmaker this team needs an offensive leader Last yr a lot of it was provided josh mcdaniels. without brady or edelman, this is ateam of nice guys who are "standup" guys but dont really seem to get pissed about anything. Like this "
Hunter Henry was on the field for the final play and echoed Slater's sentiments on Meyers.

"It's not all on him, man," Henry said. "We all ... We just can't keep having (mistakes) ... I had a few, other guys had a few. We just gotta step up, man. It's not on him at all. It should've never come down to that. It sucks. This one hurts. But it's not all on him. We gotta make plays earlier."

Henry was asked if there was any reminder in the offensive huddle that if the team didn't score, just to maintain possession of the ball and play for overtime.

"We just need to be more clear on that," Henry said. "I'll take responsibility on that. I should probably communicate a little more on that. That's on me. I gotta step up. Especially as a guy who's been around."

Hnery keeps saying after every losss we need need to step up and get better which is great but he drops passes and makes dumb plays like not stepping out of bounds in the vikings games. When will he actually step up.?

We sorely miss an edelman type on this team.

Glad the resident dunce has weighed in.
If you ever want to compare transcripts, degrees and professional success, just DM me. That would be fun.

Couldn't watch the game; we hit the road to Hershey from the wife's family's annual Christmas party, this time in Milton MA, just after kickoff...
And because the game was flexed, I couldn't record it either... We arrived a little over 2 hours ago, and after carrying everything into the house and unpacking a little, I watched the 12-minute highlights - or should I say lowlights - on youtube...

I'm actually more upset - in fact a LOT more upset - that Little Nicky Caesar's team couldn't finish off the ****ing filthy ****ing scummy ****ing Queefs.

As far as Little Billy's ****ing Patsies are concerned: **** them. Go Bengals! Go Billdos!

p.s.: **** Corky too.

p.p.s.: and **** Trent Brown.

No it's not Mac. You need to QB better not tackle better.

Thing is. A season ago we had 10 wins made the playoffs and a promising rookie QB who had 22 tds. You want to see growth.

Instead, We have gone backwards in every category. And this is pretty much on the coaching staff. And really on Bill for putting Patricia and Judge in the roles.
It's not unique to the Patriots. Reiss had an article that since 2018 or so the teams that spent the most in FAcy had an avg of 5 more wins that season (Pats had 3). But the following season, those same teams had an avg of 5 more losses, going back to where they were (Pats so far have 3). Basically, spending like fools during FAcy isn't the answer. Kraft even said so, that we used to laugh at teams that did that. I think it's pretty clear the FAcy extravaganza spending of 2021 was an abject failure.

That's great. Add a TD for the two he got that his coach took away and his TE took away. Then add the two big passes he made that went incomplete because his "receivers" couldn't make basic plays. Then he's about over 200 with a TD and around 50% with the win.

If you need to blindly look at box scores you won't be able to overcome people picking apart what actually happened.
That's all fine but the reality is that Mac was the worse QB this weekend aside from McSorley, who I have no clue who he is.
