Bill Belichick: Highest Paid Coach in North American Sports at $20m per

Don't forget the corollary:

September (October, November...take your pick) is really an extension of pre-season. We have to wait until later to see what team we really have.

So excuses are ok when it comes to Brady's crap 2022 season...

It's called rebuidling.

I expected it.

The anomaly in all this was 2001when we were in the middle of a rebuild. Were also damn lucky to qualify for the playoffs and it was a miracle we beat the Raiders.

2002 should not have been unexpected when we missed the playoffs in the middle of a rebuild.
Ok, according to reports the krafts said the spent alot of money last off season.. they felt they rebuilt thier team.. and after making the playoffs they felt they were ascending...according to them..

you make valid points no argument there.

However bruchsi, Ted Johnson, willie Mac, law, Bledsoe, milloy, brown, those guys laid the foundation for the patriots winning culture. BB came in leaned on those guys to carry the tradition.

Of course later came Seymour, Vrabel,
rosy Colvin. Rodney, phiffer..

And those great leaders were talented, made timely plays. When things didn't work they let the coaches know, often had to be coaches on the field. 2001 happened as we know by injury or else it would have ended the same way 2000 did.

That was a different era of NFL strategy. This NFL players are much more talented, faster, stronger most are in pro style offenses to be pro ready.

This is year 10, 3 years into another "rebuild", which was aided by boatloads of cash...They have a dominant defense and the some of the most expensive weapons in the league...What more do you need from a team? Like Mac10 said, they have their dinker and dunker...Thats all it took right?

THe difference between us is, I wont make excuses for the massive difference in success with/without Brady...Usually someone that great wont fall off without 1 person
This is year 10? OK, then in the next 10 years we'll win 2 Super Bowls and go to 3. What more could you want?

Guys, please let's not get into another BB vs TB discussion. There have been numerous discussions and I think everyone is tired of these. If you have anything constructive to add to the original post, please do, otherwise, let's move on.

Thanks,

Ash

You could say the same thing about BB when he let Brady walk
Of course he could, we're all living it.

The highest paid HC in the NYFL is the same guy that won't pay top dollar to any of his players, even the greatest QB in the history of the game.

And now it shows on the field.

Good article about the adaptability of BB. (We'll see it next year, I'm sure)....Coach K, on BB dedication and being the GOAT.

Coach K praises Bill Belichick's dedication, 'curiosity' about the game: 'He's very adaptive'
Whenever I want some reliable information about the NYFL the first place I go is to a retired college basketball coach. Forget about what we hear from former NYFL players and coaches or even those players on the Pats now. If you want the straight scoop go to coach K.

People just want to put Brady on a pedestal...
Brady should be on a pedestal. He's a once in a lifetime player. In Bill's words, "It's a player's game" and players win games with proper coaching. Anyone who doesn't think Brady doesn't deserve to be on a pedestal is deluding themselves. That doesn't take away from Bill's greatness by any stretch, no matter what the detractors and contrarians want to say. Both are great.

2020 - this season so far

John Harbaugh Regular Season 27-18; Playoffs 1-1; Salary 9M
Bill Belichick; Regular Season 23-22; Playoffs 0-1; Salary 20M

John Harbaugh is grossly underpaid.

The thing is wether it this off-season next or a few years from now you can always try this strategy. You Fire Bill and thats it it's over. I'd rather not be a year to early on this one.
It seems like we'd be a year too late. Things looked like they were heading in the right direction last year. This year not so much.

Putting him on a pedestal just because you are insecure and in the process put Bill down is a different matter...

Disagree that he's a once in a lifetime player. There are plenty of elite QBs who could have won with Bill.

Comparing college basketball to the NFL is weird. One of the most celebrated teams in college history, Kansas, has been paying for 100+ years and only has 4 championships.
That sounds a lot like the Cards, Lions, Redskins and Bears, though the Bears have more titles but only 1 was during the SB era.

yeah, it's not bad...pretty good.

That too. But hopefully people remember that brady didnt win games like this one back then

Plenty of games were won by other players over the years. Bruschi sealed that win and Willie made a big stop in Indy. Malcome Butler won a SB too. But those are players, not coaches.

Congrats, you're the only person in the world who thinks that. Good attempt at trolling.
He isn't the only person willing to move on, not by a long shot. There are plenty of Pats fans who might want a change. I myself wouldn't mind seeing Vrabel given a chance here. Blunder Bill is over the hill.

Great job and happy to hear what you think. Again, making a solid contribution to the forum as always. Carry on.

That's beyond disingenuous. You can potentially argue the bolded part, but him being a once-in-a-lifetime player is 1000% percent true.

I get you have a schtick that you're trying to stick to, but I need you to tone that down before you further irritate all of us, myself included, that got to enjoy a ridiculous 20-year+ span that included 6 Super Bowl titles. None of us certainly saw that before he got here and we'll probably never see it - at least not at that magnitude - for the rest of the time we're all fortunate enough to be on this Earth.
