Zappe was 14 for 22 with four balls tipped at the line of scrimmage and two interceptions against the Bears. He didn't have a good game. After the first two drives he had, he was awful in that game.
Brady's last game had 3 (not 4) balls tipped. He's a good 6' 4". Threw one pick (not 4).
Zappe is no Brady but expect a raw minimal experience guy to do worse than brady.

Combine numbers for QBs really don't mean anything. They don't really test how a QB moves around in the pocket, their pocket awareness or their footwork. Brady's 40 was slower than some O-linemen. It had no bearing on his pocket awareness, his movement in the pocket or his footwork.
3-cone is a direct indication of how a player moves in small spaces. This is a good skill for a QB for moving in the pocket and avoiding the rush.

He had 4 incompletions! You have to be trolling to think that's a bad game
The Pats punted 7 times, attempted 3 FGs and turned the ball over once on failed 4th down try. Cam Newton would be trashed to no end after a day like that.

Defense and Special Teams are winning these games.

This is insanity. We have clearly entered the Bagdad Bob era in Foxboro.

And I remember people saying Brady had a bad game. I don't get your point. Just because Zappe had a bad game and Brady did too, it is isn't a bad game?

The 3 cone drill is really for skill players and defensive players who have to make quick cuts and totally change direction on a dime.

But in the 3 cone drill, Mahomes did it in 6.88 seconds (87th percentile) and Jones did it in 7.04 seconds (65th percentile). That isn't remotely close to the same results.

And you compared Gholston vs Mac ?

Until we can contain Diggs we will struggle against Buffalo, allen/Diggs combination is just too good.. Allen break downs the toughest defenses.. you'd think BB could devise a game plan to deal with Allen. He's a dynamic player
It wasn't Diggs as much as Allen identifying whomever Bryant or the LBs were covering last year. Those mismatches were exploited over and over vice one player having a career game.

Look at the gameplan yesterday - it's why they brought in Peppers and Wilson - to match speed of the QB. Why it didn't work against Chicago and Baltimore is because both those teams could also run traditional RB run plays successfully as well so the Patriots couldn't take another LB or S out of run supporting to account for the QB.

Once they saw the Jets couldn't get consistent 3-4 yards from their RB, they assigned (usually) Mack Wilson as the spy and he leveled his namesake Zach twice.

If the Pats front four especially can stop/limit Singletary expect a similar assignment of the speedy Wilson or Peppers to Mr Allen.

The irony is he would have had a TD or 2 with throwaways.
I dont blame the Pats for blocking the Jets player in the back on the punt TD return.

Putting the ball in Macs control at the 10 yard line runs the risk of 2 sacks and an offensive penalty moving the ball out of FG range to win the game.

I am using players who were Combine studs who did absolutely nothing in the NFL to show how the Combine doesn't mean anything. I am not comparing Gholston to Mac Jones.

A couple were open, but they cannot catch the ball if they are not looking back for the ball.
Down and distance needed on the play factors in as another variable as well.
