I like the way you guys frame it. Never before on this site have I seen Patriot fans go out of there way to insist an INT should count as a stat. Just read your first sentence. Each and every week turnovers are called back for penalties. Who tries to count that against their own player? Unless they hate that player? That was the right call because he went high and hit him in the neck. And the ref had a better point of view than the camera because we don’t even know if it was helmet to helmet. It might’ve been.

It was an interception that was called back due to RTP. Hence the phrase "the INT that wasn't".

You seriously take issue with my phrasing, or feel it's unfair to Jones? Really?

I completely disagree. I think you're getting way too defensive over how that was described. I would put it the exact same way had the QB's name been anything other than "Jones", too.

I have been complaining that at least up until yesterday, the play calling for Jones has been too aggressive and not too conservative. The reason why Jones struggled before he got injured was that he was hucking the ball all over the field and making mistakes rather than making more conservative throws to set up the big play. The bad throws for the most part were on him, but the play calling helped to put him in a position to fail.

And that pick six throw was a pretty conservative play. It was a miscommunication on an option route but the pass was under ten yards.
So you think the coaches were telling Mac to huck the ball up every play? There are short, intermediate and long routes on almost every play. Mac was making the decision to take the risky throw.

It's amazing the line looks so much better and the plays generally execute better under zappe

How many times do I have to say this? THE DEFENDER HIT JONES WELL AFTER HE THREW THE BALL. It wasn't just a technical foul, it was a blatant foul. Anytime you hit the QB with intention after he has thrown the ball is a blatant roughing the passer penalty. The defender was about a yard away from Jones by the time Jones got rid of the ball. If that was Zappe or Brady and they didn't call that, you would have been livid.

Franklin-Myers didn’t just hit him. He launched himself at Jones. Not exactly a blown call.

But you seem to be saying they went conservative because of Jones. A big reason they went conservative is because they didn't think that the o-line could protect Jones long enough consistently throwing down the field. And they would be right. They could barely protect him on a lot of the short quick passes. He was sacked six times on a conservative play calling plan (and yes, you can argue at least one or two was because he held the ball too long) and his interception that counted was because Cannon lost control of his guy and he hit Jones' arm while he was throwing on one fot the few down the field passes yesterday. Imagine what it would have been if they had him hucking balls 30-40 yards down the field.
They went conservative because....

Jones is messed up
Line sucks
Jets D is good.

Yes, the offensive line totally miss blocks for Jones because they figure Jones sucks anyway. You do realize that Strange was benched for poor play yesterday. Was that Jones' fault. Is Jones so bad that Strange played so bad that Belichick benched him (second time Strange has been benched both with Jones) and put Wynn in at LG? And has Zappe ever played without Andrews under center for the entire game?

I bet you they go more aggressive next week vs. the Colts. And Jones will be the same guy. The only differences are that Andrews will likely be back and the Colts' defense isn't as good.

Ok, we all have our opinions, here are the facts,

2021 Mac had a high completion %
Broke rookie records at qb not seen since Marino
Took his team to the playoffs
Came in under an ESTABLISHED offense and creative coordinator
Thrived under that system
2022 - failed coaches were brung back in to the organization asked to perform multiple duties
Offensive scheme was changed, not conducive to your qbs skill set but rather the players around him.

Gets hurt misses time , now working his way back.
Not excusing the give aways but the Offensive line has been bad all year. He showed some stones hanging in there against that ferocious front converting those 3rd downs..

So I ask, who in the draft or out there do you see that can come in this organization and deal with all the factors Mac has had to endure. Donta Hightower said it best not everyone can come in and play for the patriots.
Facts are that Mac Jones is so slow to react and he has a very weak arm.

The pick 6 was a perfect example. Henry was open, but by the time Jones reacted it was too late. Jones does not have the arm strength to throw a dart past the defender. NFL DBs will continue to feast of Jones trying to throw. His game is short and safe, dink and dunk passing. When your QB is only allowed to throw 3 passes in the Buffalo wind you've got problems.

There are several reasons that was roughing the passer. It was blatant penalty. I just don't know how anyone can call it a ticky tack call unless they are letting their bias toward Jones cloud their judgment.

You do realize that it is recognized that Zappe has a weaker arm than Jones?

Spot on, I really wish more would pay attention to this. The PLAY CALLING and BLOCKING. Mac didn't just wake up and forget how to ball. He's had nothing but great coaching since college.

Now look what he has to deal with.. I'm sure his heads spinning, do I throw it here, or throw it there.. it continues to really bother me that Hunter Henry a 6'7 target is MIA in this offense.. imagine how much better mac could be if we used the TE, like other teams use to burn us..

Blaming everyone else is way.

Zap will be back. Soon too.

You keep on thinking that. Belichick praised Jones in his post game conference. That doesn't sound like he is setting things up to make a QB change.

"Recognized" by whom?

You have a knack for making dubious claims and presenting it is as a generally accepted fact when you're really just expressing your own opinion.

To my eye, Zappe has better velocity on his short-to-intermediate passes. The ball comes off his hand better. I'm willing to bet if you measured the speed of the throws, the data would indicate as much. But that's just my opinion - I don't have any data and I certainly wouldn't make an unfounded claim about what is generally recognized as true in the absence of good, objective data.

You really just mean to say, "in my opinion Zappe has a weaker arm than Jones", which is fine to think, but you shouldn't speak for others or make claims of fact in the absence of evidence.

I would feel better if we had a better record than the Jets and Miami, which is all that matters.

Since you aren't talking about winning the division, the jets and fins aren't all that matters. The records of others matter like CIN and LAC.

We were on the road in a must-win game. The Jets front 7 is as good as it gets, and we were without Andrews. BB knew his D could control the Jets who were minus their best back, best OL, and best WR, and with a shaky QB. So it became a conservative game where any FG was a victory. I was surprised he went for the two 4th downs tbh. I was fairly pleased with the way they moved the ball against that D - they ran well and the short passing game was working well. Rham's best game as a Patriot.

You do realize no one takes you seriously, right? There's like 10 posters here that are good and you ain't one, Rob. I'd be surprised if anyone got anything out of your post besides a laugh.
