Game Day Thread Official Post Game Day Thread- Pats beat the Jets

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

I don’t get why we don’t have a thread for the other games anymore.

The Bills are currently playing a different sport than anyone else. This is nuts.

There is a thread. You may have the OP blocked.

I am saying, "really," that it was a soft-as-a-grape, new-age-NFL girlyman call. I trust that gives you the opportunity to rant you so obviously long for.
It's a girly-man call for people that like watching football run by 3rd string QBs.

Which I guess fits you really well.

It was a clear penalty.

QBs are defenseless.

Trust me, fans don't want to watch games QB'd by the likes of QB White of the Jets or Zappe.

This is why there are roughing the passer calls in the first place.

I feel like in this league you need a combination of elite QB play and great coaching.. as we know we had that for so long.. if anything zappe showed he could be a more than capable back up, and that's an excellent thing for the team going forward.

The point I've tried to make is that compare and contrast Mac's rookie year to this one, clearly the offense is different, Mac shoulders the blame becuase of course he's the qb, however he's doing what the coaches ask of him.. not excusing the turnovers, but that he wasn't in much of these difficult situations last season.. he had heavy use of the TE is hunter Henry still on the team? A 10 touchdown guy last season and he's like non existing..

I think Mac will be fine and continue to grow as he further acclimates to this non TE offensive scheme..
Mac's Non TE Offense?? Funny how Zappe found them you can't throw moon balls over the middle. Mac is holding our TE's back.

I don't ever see that thread either, week after week, and I definitely do not have the OP blocked. It's just weird. Don't know why

Jones isn't doing that well now, which is why I think they are keeping him in shotgun, to give him more time to read things and scramble if need be.
Not sure why it just hit me, but I wonder if the shotgun is ankle related, so he doesn't have to do the 5-7 step dropback 60 times in a game.

Can't do those deep drop backs with the constant break downs along the OL Center and Tackles mostly.

For those complaining about the offense, the Patriots are #3 in points scored through eight weeks. They are 8th in fewest points allowed.

Yet, they left a ton of points on the table for not finishing those drives that resulted in field goals. Matt needs to figure something out in the Red Zone. In support of those complaining about the lack of reliance on the tight ends, I salute you. The Red Zone is typically Tight End time, but for some reason, the Patriots are not firing a pass at one or both TEs inside the 20.

No, it's where Mac is most comfortable. He always ran the Alabama offense out of the gun. The coaches need to put these young guys in the best position to have success.

Answer = Mac is afraid to add to his pick totals. He's scared to throw over the middle.

We are 17th in pts per game. Many teams have already had their bye week so you can't go by total pts for.

I just checked the NFL standings. There were 9 teams who have more points than the Patriots. That would put the Pats at #10.

However, there also 10 teams who haven't played 8 games yet. Most are within a few points of the Patriots. Once they play their 8th games, the Patriots would likely be below #15 unless they all get shutout in their next games.

The real question re Mac is: is he tough enough?
He's playing weeks after a significant high ankle sprain. He took a couple of big hits today and played right through them. I don't think today is the right day to be questioning his toughness.

Somehow I can't picture Belichick leaning back in his easy chair tonight, smoking a cigar while basking his mind in the accomplishments of his 4-4 team.

Well... maybe after passing Halas, but the point remains.
No, but a division win on the road is always difficult. My guess is that Belichick is looking wistfully at photos of Josh McDaniels and Dante Scarnecchia on his facebook page. The Patriots left several TDs on the field by squandering repeated good field position and not being able to finish drives beacuse the OL was getting pushed into Mac's lap or drawing penalties all game.

Belichick should be asking Patricia what he's going to do to address those problems since he's calling the plays and coaching the OL.

We won because Zach Wilson is trash. Thanks Zach.

Need to be better next week.

Agreed.

DMac said the Pats are getting better every week, but it will take longer this year to completely gel because there are a lot of players that are relatively new. So hopefully we can beat the Colts, then have a week off, and then be better for the second half :).

A win vs the Colts could really go a long way to setting us up. Confidence going into the bye and we could definitely use that time for some key guys to get healed up. Then the Jets again. Some tough ones after that so I don't think we can afford a loss in either of the next 2.
