Report: Brady and Gisele are Divorcing

The way I see it, breaking the promise to retire is more than enough to cause a marriage with some tensions in it to become unsustainable from her point of view, and her reported actions justify that stance. Whether or not he already decided the marriage was unsustainable before that point is an unknown, but as above I think his current remorseful actions suggest otherwise.
That's kinda where I'm heading in this. All speculation to be sure.
Of course, it could be a show and he's quietly glad to be out of the marriage with her being seen as the aggressor. No one knows for sure.
In my own opinion and without any evidence I feel he figured he could break his promise and she would grudgingly take the L and eventually forgive him for it, but it seems he miscalculated. The current remorseful actions support that notion, IMO. Or, of course, he knew that would be the straw to break the camel's back and he's OK with the marriage ending. No one knows for sure.
.....or knowing Gisele's next move would be to file for divorce if he reneged on his promise -especially if she game him an ultimatum. Maybe Tom didn't have the guts to end it. Maybe un-retiring was the tactic he employed knowing she'd do the dirty work. Who knows.

I buy the notion that Tom wants Giselle back and is trying to salvage things; he looks genuinely depressed and downtrodden, and has for basically the entire season. Still playing good football, but he does not look well.
I dunno. I've seen people go through divorces knowing ultimately it was for the best but the process sucked the life out of them- especially if the spouse played hardball financially and emotionally and the kids were f-ed up.

Well put, I'd also that there was a failure in communication along the way. Long before they got to this point.

What bothers me is her lack of understanding that the man has set goal before, during, and after she came on board very publicly. If football has anything to do with the divorce, then 4833
her.

If not, then they have bigger issues that none of us can even recognize.

Just watched Bridgett on"Blue Bloods" last night. If only...
In the actual real world, I hope against the odds that Tom & G can reconcile and enjoy a happy family.

Tom playing til he's 45 has been no big secret. When he used to do his weei interviews when he played here he said he was going to play until he's 45, the guys interviewing him didn't believe it when he first said it and this was when he first started his TB12 stuff. I'm sure he told Giselle the same thing and that interview was 10 years ago. There's more to this than he's still playing.

Did Brady set his goal of playing to age 45 in/prior to 2007, when he was 30 years old and in his 8th NFL season? Because 2007 is when Brady and Bundchen began seeing each other.

Brady began publicly throwing 45 out there once he got into his mid-30s if I remember correctly ... around 2014'ish was when that 45 number was put out there publicly, not 2007.

I can't possibly imagine that in 2007, at 30 years old, when Brady first started seeing Bundchen, he said something to the effect of, "look, I really like you, but I'm going to still be playing football in another 15 years when I'm 45". I just don't think it's likely he was thinking along those lines at that stage in his life/career, but I don't know.

And beyond that, I just don't think it's actually true that he publicly stated he wanted to play to 45 before he met Bundchen (which would mean he publicly said that prior to 2007, which I cannot recall him ever publicly indicating at that point in time).

It definitely has something to do with football.

Things change when one is in a partnership, especially one with children, especially one where both partners have options.

Making unilateral decisions becomes highly problematic, unless of course it is your goal to wreck the partnership.

What’s your guy’s take on why Leo only dates 25 year olds and under? Is it just simply because he can or is there more to it?
I think its pretty simple.

I would say broadly speaking people would pick romantic partners for a few reasons

(1) Money/Security
(2) Deep connection
(3) Hot and fun to be around

Leo has no need for (1), and it his life experience is probably so different from almost everyone that number (2) is difficult or impossible to find. So he chooses his partners based on (3) which naturally tends to skew to the <25 demographic. And he can.

I guess you are believing what you want to believe, because we now have multiple reports saying Tom is the one who is hurt and is trying to salvage the marriage while she's the one saying "screw it".
Problem with those reports is they don't make any sense.

If Tom is trying to salvage the marriage, he must not be trying too hard because I tuned into Falcons-Bucs yesterday and good ole #12 was under center taking snaps.

There is no such thing as a unilateral decision in these situations.

Tom: I am playing football another season
Gisele: If you play football another season, I am leaving you.

So who is the one who made the unilateral decision? They both did.

Of course you're leaving out that minor detail that before all that happened Tom told her he was retiring and made a big public statement about focusing more on the family, so he was going back on his word. That appears to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

He actually thought the Bucs were going to be a great team and did not want to leave a super bowl "on the field" by retiring. So far 7 TDs through 5 games...

It very well may be but we may not know everything. Maybe it was already too late. All we know is what she has said publically. We really haven't heard both sides. Couples drift apart over time. People do fall out of love. How much did that figure into this? Of course his football career is an ingredient but was there other things they couldn't reconcile? Serious question, has Tom said anything about it?

Lol. You nailed it! I especially was impressed with your mention of the 7 touchdowns. If that doesn't shine a light on the marriage situation, Nothing does! You get more ridiculous every day. Are you married by the way?

I disagree. I think he retired and discovered the marriage was beyond saving so then figured he may as well play. That makes a lot more sense than your theory, which essentially says they had the following conversation...

Tom: I'm retiring to save the marriage
Gisele: Thank you honey! You've saved the marriage!
Tom: On second thought..... nahhhhhhh.

That's certainly plausible but we really don't know.

I agree we don't really know but I find it hard to believe he made such a major life decision to save the marriage, succeeded in saving the marriage, then a mere 2 weeks later decided to burn it all to the ground anyway. I think the following conversation is far, far more likely:

Tom: I'm retiring to save the marriage
Gisele: You know, our differences are more than football. I am still moving out with a focus on getting divorced.
Tom: Well that sucks. But since that's how you feel, no point in me retiring....

I'd like to hear Tom's side but he's not likely to publically comment on it......but Mac10 has a convincing argument with the 7 Touchdowns in 5 games angle. Brilliant!

1) Mac10 is in my ignore file, and I find it hard to believe he has a convincing argument on any subject matter.

2) Brady has had a slow start to the season, but is still on a pace to throw for 4,800 yards, and is #3 in the League in passing yardage. Absolutely he needs to do a better job of closing out drives, but it's amazing how being "just" #3 in the League in passing yardage is considered a slow start for the guy.

3) Brady is also the only QB in the League to start 5 games and have only 1 INT.

I had him in mute but for some reason his post was visible. He was blaming Brady for trying to win one more SB over his marriage and i guess he felt compelled to sneak in only 7 touchdowns this year. What a troll
