The 49ers helped out the Bucs by beating the Panthers. But, as seems to be the case damn near every time with the 49ers (and Bucs), that came at a price:

The 49ers were hit hard by injuries in today’s win over the Panthers.

San Francisco cornerback Emmaunel Moseley is likely out for the season with a torn ACL, coach Kyle Shanahan said after today’s game.

Safety Jimmie Ward broke his hand, although at the moment it’s unclear how much time he will need to miss.

The 49ers also lost Nick Bosa to a groin injury and Robbie Gould to a knee contusion, but they’re not yet sure how serious those injuries are.

Bucs went just 2-for-5 in the red zone today, so oddly enough, they're now 5-for-5 in the red zone in their two losses and 3-for-9 in red zone in their three wins.

In Tom Brady's first two seasons in Tampa, Bucs were 1-4 when scoring 21 points or less -- five such games in 39 chances. In five games this season, they're now 3-1 when scoring 21 or less.

The Eagles have played an easy schedule. The Cowboys have been playing teams that are struggling to get their offenses going. The Giants have benefited from the combination of those things. The Redskins still suck. The 49ers were foolish enough to start off with their QB1 on the trading block. The Rams are missing offensive personnel, and have also fallen back in a year following the SB win. The Seahawks moved on from their QB. The Cardinals are... the Cardinals.

The NFC is all jumbled up, and a lot of it is about injuries (Bucs/Rams) and expected growing pains (Packers/49ers) to the teams that were expected to be at the top of the conference by the end of the season.

The Cardinals game has a chance to be tough, too, I suppose, but Dallas and New Orleans being in the rear view mirror means that the road should be pretty kind to the team for the rest of the regular season. Meanwhile, tough games at home: Ravens, Rams, Saints, Bengals.

Bucs’ next two opponents (Pittsburgh and Carolina) gave up 38 and 37 points in losses today. Two more chances to get offense back on track before tougher opponents arrive with Ravens and Rams.

13-4 would likely get the 1 seed. The Packers losing yesterday was a huge help because they’ve got tough games coming up and to waste a loss on the Giants is yikes.
