NFL Week 2 Other Games

It’s funny that several teams people who were convinced to be much better than the Pats and legitimate playoff contenders when the Pats are not are now 0-2. No team has ever gotten into the playoffs going 0-2 since they expanded the playoffs to 14 teams. And a couple have looked awful (Bengals and Colts although they are 0-1-1).

Who knows where any of these teams might end up, but the AFC appears to not to be as top heavy as people thought before the season started.

They only went to the 14 team playoff system in 2020, so note about the 0-2 teams not making it since then is practically meaningless. There are only two 0-2 teams in the AFC (with the Titans in danger of become a third if they lose tomorrow). If you want to look for a common among the Bengals/Colts/Raiders, it's turnover at key positions (basically the entire OL for the Bengals, with the QB missing time because of appendicitis, the coaching staff for the Raiders, QB (and an injured Leonard) for the Colts.

But, regardless of how tomorrow's games end up, only one team in the AFC will be more than one game out of first place (Raiders), and only two teams in the AFC will be 2-0. And none of that means much of anything beyond there being just two weeks gone in the season.

Justin Fields giving the Montgomery/Herbert tandem the Cam Newton goal line treatment.

It's easy to pile on Mac but he's so much further along in his development than his draft contemporaries.
That 2021 QB class so far:

Lawrence: Getting back on track to his presumed superstardom after a nightmarish first year.
Wilson: Injured again for trying to extend a scramble in preseason.
Lance: Injured for the season after going off tackle for two yards in the first quarter of game 2.
Fields: Being ritually sacrificed for the sins of the Bears management.
Jones: Average to above average starting QB, possibly regressing amidst a year of coaching changes, but not bad.
Mills: Pleasant surprise as an average starter.

Anyone remember that time BB sucked because he let Chicago leapfrog ahead of him in the draft to take Fields… that take is aging like milk.
Not one of Andy’s finest hours on here.

Lawrence is still behind Jones but he can catch up if he stays on his current track.

The NFL rep who handed out the suspension is the father of Packers' player, Jon Runyan Jr (Jon Runyan Sr is his dad). The Bucs play the Packers next week. I'm assuming Evans will appeal, but how long do those take? If he could buy himself a couple more weeks, he'd be available for the Packers and Chiefs games. The fact a big shove after the whistle while he + his QB are getting taunted = suspension, is absurd. Far worse, including Aaron Donald's actions, have resulted in just fines.

so? one of the guys who is set to hear the appeal is former Buc Derrick Brooks…

Why is Tom Brady's face looking so gaunt this days?
