Week 2 Pats @ Steelers pregame thread

I think the negativity is because of Bill's strange decision to have Patricia/Judge lead the offense and their Year 2 young, talented QB.

It was a very odd decision and it's been questioned by pretty much everyone across the league aside from the forum BB ball washers. It's too early to tell how it all works out. I have my doubts.

Totally agree. Fat Matt and Judge Joe leave you with little comfort that they will make the the right adjustments or help Mac make that Year 2 jump. A good QB Coach and Offensive Coordinator would have done wonders for Mac in his second season. Mac did his part in being prepared for Year 2 by getting leaner and stronger, working with an offseason QB Coach and training with his receivers in the offseason, and for his reward he's getting sabotaged.

If the wheels really start to fall off, I hope Bill sees it and makes a change before it's really too late.

It's why fans of other teams like @Triumph are jealous and seething about the fact that he fell in our lap without having to trade up for him.

I was hoping that the Jets would sweep in and take him.

I think I feel more negative about this team than the Cam team. The team in 2020 had horrible talent, so I remember them actually outperforming their talent that year. The team this year has much better talent and in game one they underperformed that talent imo (especially on the O-line).

Cam was set up to fail.

Didn't BB even admit that 2020 was reset year? I believe so.

In 2020 I was excited to watch anything due to the COVID outbreak. The Pats could have been even worse than they were in 2020 and I would have been excited to watch them.

For the record, I expect the current team to improve during the season and turn the mood of the fanbase around. For now though, not being able to move the ball all pre-season and in game one is real frustrating.

They should improve, but not at a Contenders level.

This is where BB's treatment of the media and fans works against him. Ultimately you should never leave things to peoples imaginations because the vast majority trend towards the negative if left to their own thoughts. If the same events happened on the field and the team was more open and following a well understood org structure it would not feel as bad because the ability to address the problems would be clear. As it is everyone is being asked to make multiple leaps of faith without understanding how things will work.

Damien Harris was asked how confident New England’s offense feels heading into Sunday’s Week 2 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The running back paused for four seconds, considering his answer, and then gave a telling response. “Um,” Harris said. “I feel like we know that we’re not where we’re going to be. And I think the confidence is that we’re going to get there at some point.”

First 1:00 start for a Pats-Squealers game in 24 years... I do believe that CBS, at least, has spoken... The NEP as a national phenomenon no longer exists; they're about as relevant now as the Commandos are.

It’s the 2nd straight 1 pm game for the Steelers also with the 1st being against the defending AFC champion. So, the decline of both teams, not just the Pats, account for the 1 pm start time Sunday. Plus, this game is as close to a National game as any can be in its time slot.

Having said that, if the camera keeps panning to Matt Patricia so much during games, the Pats might soon be banned from network TV altogether and only shown on Amazon Prime or NFL+.
