It's absolutely insane that he's got Parker as just a "contest" guy. Ya he can do that but as proven by him constantly burning the DPOY in the video you linked shows he can be more than that.

and if wasn't for the refs Parker would have been the reason why Pats had an opening drive TD and most likely were 1-0 but refs are refs and it set the tone for the game.

hard to make contested catches or even get open when the CB has grip of your jersey,
Oh ffs. Look for the ball and go get it. If he does that, maybe he gets the ball, maybe he gets the call. Otherwise it’s just both players hand checking. He knows it. He admitted it. He just whiffed. It’s not rocket science.

I'm not sure what more there is to discuss when a photograph is presented and you continue to say "it's just both players hand checking". No it's not, and there is crystal-clear, objective evidence of that. Parker is resting his left hand on Howard's sternum trying to create space; Howard has a handful of jersey, extended well away from the body, and in the process of grabbing the jersey is simultaneously preventing Parker from raising his left arm.

Could Parker have made a better effort to get to the ball? Only Parker knows that, but from my view, yeah probably. Does that mean no penalty occurred? Absolutely not. Are the players' respective actions equivalent, or just tit-for-tat hand-fighting? No, and we have demonstrable evidence of that.

What Howard did is a penalty, DPI or holding, take your pick. What Parker did is not a penalty; if he had grabbed a fistful of Howard's jersey or gave an obvious push-off with an extended arm, that'd be a different story - neither one happened.

I've learned two things in the thread:

1) People are really ready to blame Patricia for anything and everything, at the drop of a hat.

2) Lots of posters have no sense of nuance when it comes to running a team. It's all black and white. Player A has marginally more talent than Player B, therefore Player A should be playing all the time no matter what.

And to piggyback off my above post re: Parker, I remember seeing a practice clip where the TEs/WRs were working on showing their hands late when going for a catch, especially on deeper passes that are tracked over the shoulder. The thought process being that if you reach for the ball too early, you're tipping off the DB that the pass is en-route and they then have time to get their head around and play the ball.

By showing your hands late (meaning initiating the catch at the last possible moment), ideally you can keep the DB in limbo and limit the time for the DB to react to the ball. That said, there are obviously times when it's better to attack the ball rather than wait on it.

Point being, there might be a reason that Parker didn't aggressively go for the ball. Whether that's how it was coached, or if he made the right/wrong decision, I don't know, but there is nuance when it comes to these things.

I don’t deny Howard grabbed his jersey. Let me be more specific. It looks like both players handchecking to the side judge if the receiver doesn’t go get the ball. Parker tells us himself that he misjudged the ball and doesn’t think he was interfered with. Funny how people seem to ignore that.

He likely hadn't seen that photograph at the time he was asked the question. Parker can think whatever he wants, it doesn't change reality. Ditto, an official not seeing a penalty doesn't mean one didn't occur. If a tree falls in the forest but no one is around, does it make ... you get the point.

He was held and interfered with. Per the rules as they exist, a penalty for defensive holding or DPI should've been enforced. Done and dusted.

I'd have no issue with Howard putting his hand on Parker's shoulder/ribs/back, to brace/steady himself and keep balance as he tracks the ball, but you cannot grab a fistful of jersey, latch-on, and start tugging.

Even with the two TE sets there are plenty of WR snaps to go around. If the offense runs about 60 plays per game and half of them are 2-receiver sets, half are 3-receiver sets, that means there are a total of 150 WR snaps to go around. In my opinion those should be broken down like:

Meyers 40
Bourne 40
Parker 40
Agholor 30

That keeps everyone fresh and utilizes their diverse strengths. Absolutely no reason Bourne should be below these thresholds going forward.

Parker’s view is “demonstrable evidence” or whatever you call it. The guy is a vet WR who was on the field involved in the play. I think he knows PI better than you and me. His statement tells me he didn’t feel the grab.

Bourne didn't have the best of camps, still hoping he bounces back and is a contributor this year. He played really well for us last season:

Agree. Both players are 29. Parker has 2" & 10 #s on Howard. They were teammates. They both know what it takes. They were both battling for the ball & Howard beat him. Refs didn't throw a flag because Howard was looking for the ball. It was a jump ball & Parker got beat. He needs to be more physical with his size.

That's because Patricia had Bourne taking second team reps. after catching him chewing gum on the line.

“I don’t know what happened. When the ball was in the air, (Howard) was able to get his hand up, and Holland came up with the pick," Parker said after his team's 20-7 defeat.

Parker admitted he "didn't think" he was interfered with.

"I just kind of misjudged it, so the next time I know, just go up for it," he added.

If you remember early in the preseason he was getting a lot of reps with the first unit, but the production wasn't there. Agholor seemed to pass him up during the 2nd or 3rd week and then Tyquan started to come on as well.

That’s a good no-call. Parker’s arm is fully extended and he’s being grabbed. The throw was terrible. A moon ball when it should have been on a frozen rope if Mac wanted any hope of beating the SS.

Agree the throw sucked but hand-checking and holding/grabbing are different.

If any of what Curran reported about Kraft is true, and let me say I don’t believe it because it’s so idiotic, then Kraft is trending toward Snyder-Jerry’s land. Bourne was last seen having Jonnu Smith talk him down after he showed up Algholor who had just fumbled. If you want to rip apart a team and send away the coach, then have the owner get involved with a personnel issue (over a guy who isn’t even a #1 receiver). The absurdity of this situation is comical when you think of the last 20 years.

Is Kraft Snyder-level stupid?

Fat Matt doesn’t have the clout to have a “Doghouse”. Nor does the Team have the talent for him OR Judge to be petty, seems Kraft understands that.
Put another way, Curran and the ass clowns know Matt is easy to pick on and they can get a rise out of their audience by doing so.

We have our legions of fat shamers in here already carrying lit torches after one game.

However, even if he is de-facto OC, there's no way he's sitting Bourne without BB's approval.

Picking on BB doesn't go over well with much of their audience, so Matt becomes the target.
