So we are shooting ourselves in the foot a month later by benching a guy who was arguably our best receiver at times last year? We don't have the luxury of being able to do this with this current iteration of the Patriots and he needs to be on the field.
Please share post with BB - Fat Matt and Judge!

Bourne isn't playiing over Meyers or Parker, are you ok with sitting Agholor? He had a very good camp, of which Bourne didn't. Just curious.

I am fine letting Bourne see at least an even amount of snaps as Agholor. Let their play of the field who dictates the snap count going forward from there. I honestly don't think Parker should be playing 100% of the snaps either as far as I am concerned Meyers is the only guy who should be out there every play as he can consistently get open.

I mean, this may still happen, now they're getting some live reps on tape. But though Bourne is a good athlete, his career hasn't been drastically better (if at all) than Parker, Agholor, or even Meyers. So if what they're seeing in practice is that he's the odd man out, they're not just going to play him a bunch in the hopes he's better in the game. They're not sitting Randy Moss for a bad practice, in other words.

But as they start to see what translates (and doesn't) to the games, they'll make changes. But prior to week 1, all they had was practice.

At least for this team,

Bourne > Agholor
Bourne > Parker

If Parker is healthy, he is going to play. Meyers we know is playing. I like Bourne, he had a good year for us last year, would love to see him get more playing time but not sure who he is replacing. Once Tyquan comes back next month, things will get interesting.

Is it a coincidence that a former DC that benched a starting CB during a SB, is now an OC and is doing the same w/ one of the best WRs on the team? There's a reason why players hated him in DET. Stafford alluded to not wanting to play for him. Now, we've heard of issues or lack of motivation by our 2 starting tackles (his OL) & a good WR (his O). Sorry but this dude is a problem.

Attempting only 2 PA passes isn't on the OC?
Benching (2 snaps) one of your more productive WRs isn't on the OC?
Just those two decisions could've had an influence on the anemic O performance.

Jonnu Smith didn’t make a catch until late in the third. Kendrick Bourne didn’t make one until the final drive -- a 41-yarder -- on one of the only two plays he was on the field for.

My understanding is that Kraft definitely noticed Bourne was left in mothballs all day. And he noticed what happened when he finally got on the field. I don’t know if a Bourne ultimatum has been issued, but I’ll bet he’ll have a far bigger role going forward.

Curran: Kendrick Bourne's lack of role isn't going unnoticed by Kraft

Eh, while I hate to comment on something that is, at this point, "my sources tell me..." in regards to the Bourne v. Patricia talk, I only have 30 minutes to kill at work right now so, better now than ever:

If (and please, remember, I'm just entertaining the discussion and don't have a firm clue on the subject) it is related to such, I think Patricia needs to acknowledge a few things:

- You gotta speak to your player's interests, especially the ones that intersect with all the other players before you demand something. Just benching someone for being late and then holding them out until the end is stupid, it's an overbearing level of discipline. Patricia has never worked with Bourne and probably has not spent enough time earning his respect.

- Belichick needs to put a coach in their place if that is happening. It provides a conduit for humility on behalf of the assistant, which is a great opportunity for an assistant to speak to the player's frustrations of being a bit in the dark on treatment. It isn't too late, at all, to do that. If Bourne is not receptive to a humble moment from Patricia at that point, then you can start to tell Bourne to grow up.

- I think Belichick would be wise to pass on wisdom on how to handle player egos to Patricia. It's what makes the best, well, the best. Walsh said it best: "Strength of will - is essential to your survival and success. The competitor who won't go away, who won't stay down, has one of the most formidable competitive advantages of all. In evaluating people, I prize ego. It often translates into a fierce desire to do their best and an inner confidence that stands them in good stead when things really get rough. Psychologists suggest that there is a strong link between ego and competitiveness. All the great performers I've ever coached had ego to spare."

At the end of the day, whatever is going on, don't hold out a player for the entirety of a game just to prove a point, if that player is also integral to your success. You set aside your ego, manage theirs, and maintain a level of confidence throughout your entire team by giving them a chance to get that win back. The amount of chemistry building that could allow has so much more benefit than dog housing the one dude who really opens up the middle of the field. This isn't a binary, you can both prove your point and let your player have more than two snaps to help your team. The only damage is found in the extremes of this: just allowing them to play and never having repercussions vs. benching them all game.

Well last I checked Sleepy Parker has two hands throw the other hand up only one hand was impeded. Parker slept on that play like he did the entire game I see why Miami isn't worried trading him within the division.
You’re right. Parker had no fire, no speed, little production. All against his old team.

This doesn’t bode well.

He and Meyers move like USPS people out delivering the mail on a hot June day compared to the faster receivers in the league.

Yep... Uche did on Sunday what he has Always done as soon as the games actually matter: Absolutely ****ing Nothing.
For season after season.

There must have been a reason his Michigan coaches never let him sniff the starting lineup except his last year.

Meanwhile, Onwenu was a three-year mainstay playing at a high level if 70-80 pounds overweight.

But hope springs eternal once Uche is in shorts in May. Gawd.

Belichick said after the game that it was a close matchup with just a couple plays making the difference. He was right.

The report on Parker is that he withers if you get physical with him and, as we saw, he was completely taken out of that game.

Yeah, about that....

Parker is clearly not only trying to get his left arm up (but is impeded), but is also trying to make a play with his right arm. Pretty hard though when a guy is hanging onto you like that.

If you think he should have made the play, maybe we should get a few of us together, and let's have a 190 pound guy holding you like this while you're running away from the direction of the pass and see how well you're able to get your arms up to make a play. I think you'll discover that it isn't easy.

Just checking in on the discussion after a long day at work. The Fellowship is out in full force today, I see. Looks like Venecol’s doctor agreed to refill his Adderall.

...Interestingly, the Patriots were much more effective running to the right side (4.8 yards per carry) than the left (3.2 yards per carry), which perhaps speaks to some of rookie Cole Strange’s struggles in run blocking.
Not surprising; that's Onwenu's side.

3. That said, Strange was the team’s best offensive lineman in pass protection, not allowing a single pressure on 29 passing snaps.
That's not true.

Pardon my French; but why the heck shouldn't Bourne play ahead of Parker? Parker was Useless on Sunday... If anybody is limited to two offensive snaps in Sh!ttsdirt, it should that slow-ass stiff.
