NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION NFL Week 1 Other Games

This game was 100% down to the rams coming down off the SB win high and thinking they were just gonna show up and repeat. Lions Stafford showed up tonight.
I know it is overreaction Monday (well, Friday I guess) but it makes me wonder if Stafford's arm injury is worse than we have been led to believe...

And yet, late Nov. last year:
Colts 41
@Bills 15

Any given Sunday, huh?
Forget that, those ***holes lost to Jacksonville. I'll never forget that game since it kicked me out of my elimination pool.

Jacksonville. Coached (at the time) by Urban Meyer.

Feels like a built-in excuse to me.

Rams O-line often didn't handle the BUF rush, Stafford either didn't find anyone not named Kupp, or didn't have time to look.

I didn't see too many Cam Newton balls thrown, just a lot of Stafford looking for a split second, either throwing to Kupp or holding the ball and getting sacked.

Personally, I'd wait a few games before trying to figure out Stafford's status.

OTOH, it's funny watching the NFL try to keep this Rams thing afloat. $6B stadium filled with the other team's fans. What's gonna happen when the home team really sucks? Personally, I can't wait.

They knew what they were getting when they moved there. LA is just not a sports town, and certainly not a football town. Oh don't get me wrong... when a team like the Lakers becomes the trendy thing, then all the beautiful people will show up.... but football isn't like that. There is a reason why they left LA all those years ago.

It was LA's home opener celebrating a Super Bowl championship against a team from thousands of miles away... and they still had to use a silent count.

What stood out is how many passes were getting batted down at the 1st and 2nd level from Stafford. Very Bledsoe esque.

Did Buffalo even punt last night?

If the Rams D cant even make them punt....

Those contracts and no draft picks will eventually catch up to them.

I was at the game. I live in the area and ticket prices dropped so much I figured why not go watch a season opener and banner reveal for decent seats for only $200. Thank you LA fans for not supporting your local team, even when they win the 'chip! I can't believe how many Bills fans were there.

Play wise, I think the story line is how the Bills DL dominated the Rams OL from start to finish. Once it was established the Bills could consistently get pressure with only four I knew the game was over because the Rams run game is so bad. That Bills defense is definitely championship caliber and they are still getting Tre'Davious White back. Josh Allen played great but still takes way too many risks on tight throws and getting hits he doesn't need. We're going to have our hands full with the Bills this year. I look forward to those games in December.

Further proof we live rent free in Bills fans heads: lots of fans chanting F the Pats as they made their way to the parking lot.

The moves to LA were said to be to build up a TV audience to increase ad revenues. Seems they didn't even consider that LA people are fair-weather fans, and they just sh!t-canned the viewing they were getting from SD and STL.

Seems they just got a giant hard-on about moving to LA, with the richest guys in a room full of rich guys leading the charge. What could possibly go wrong? Guess they don't care, they're so rich they'll land on their feet no matter what.

Yet, the SB win could be the high water mark of the whole experiment, with it all going down the sh!tter from here on, starting with Stafford's arm falling apart. Personally I like Stafford and hope that's not how things play out for him, but I'm all in favor of the Rams and all the tinsel town band wagon fans crashing into the bottom of a canyon, taking their billionaire owner and the current NFL commissioner down with them.

Thanks for the on-site reporting!

Definitely the most butthurt set of fans out there. Maybe they should put those bildos away.

I thought thr Rams defensive game plan was kind of blah. Granted i only watched thr first half. But they seemed to play a lot of zone/hybrid zone and didn't change up their defense to remove unfavorable match ups. Bills really took advantage of this.

A PFF data scientist posted on Twitter and said there was nothing the Rams could do.

-> They put everyone back and played MOFO coverage and Allen picked them apart underneath.

-> Then they bring everyone up and play single high safety and Allen torches them over the top.

-> They move people out of the box and crowd the middle and Allen runs for 10 yards.

Nothing they tried worked.

Bills looked great, but it’s game one. I ain’t crowning their ass after one game. All teams will have to deal with injuries, adversity, etc… Lets see how it all plays out.

Even if the reports are right and all he is dealing with is bad tendinitis, that can seriously negatively affect a QB. Even a minor affect on his throwing motion can potentially take a lot of his fast ball. Stafford is known for his arm strength. He has one of the strongest arms in the league and the Rams use that to their advantage. You take that away from him and he is just another QB.

But the Rams' problems last night went well beyond Stafford even if he is hobbled.

Sounds familiar, sigh...

That is misleading. They did turn over the ball four times last night. It wasn't like the Patriots games from last year where they scored on every meaningful drive.

I dunno... I'm not the one trying to justify my decisions to others and I have no idea how a feckless fan like you should feel... its beyond my life experiences...
I don't care if you think I'm justified in having an opinion. When Buffalo has the division sealed up by Thanksgiving you'll be happy they beat their AFC opponents, like Baltimore, Pittsburgh and KC, etc. because those are the teams the Patriots will be battling for a wild card spot. Buffalo just embarrassed the Super Bowl champions. They've got it all... good coaching, uber-talented roster, and mostly importantly, a superstar quarterback. They're winning 13 games anyway, which the Patriots are not, so I'm looking bigger picture at their only chance left, which is through the wild card. All Patriots fans will get there eventually. Including One-If-By-Sea... what are going to do when the division is mathematically over? Root for a wild card competitor to beat Buffalo?

Something to think about as it relates to the Pats is that the Rams and their vaunted defense didn't stop Allen once. There were fumbles and a pick that bounced off the receiver's chest. The Chiefs defense also got absolutely toyed by him. This guy is a problem. It ain't that the Pats can't make him punt, it's that according to his last few games against top competition, nobody can.

Agreed. That is why we will be playing up to 5 strong safeties. Speed and reaction time are more important than size and power is how I am reading the Pats moves. Guys like Duggar, Peppers, Uche, Wilson, Phillips, Bledsoe, etc. are all "smallish" faster guys. We will see if that helps. We have to December to work it out.

Let's chill with the didn't punt thing, they had 3 drives that ended in a turnover off the top of my head
