You can see the hit here that concussed Wilkerson. Completely blindside, helmet-to-helmet, intentionally malicious, and afterwards Robinson stomps over Wilkerson's body. No wonder the Pats players (including Slater of all people) went after him. This is bad.

Why did he play in the preseason game after this? He should've been expelled for the entire week after the coaches saw the bird's eye film following practice. This type of stuff has to be eliminated from the game and cannot be tolerated.

That's horrible. I wonder if there's any league policy for dirty hits in a joint practice setting. Doubt it. Also, absolutely hate when a player flexes after a blindside, crown of the helmet, dirty hit like this as if they did something impressive.

It appears that two other guys got in front of him and caught his focus, and Robinson snuck in from the side unnoticed.

Every team wants to strike fear and send a message that we are more physical than you.

You don't accomplish that with blind side hits. You only get the other team more motivated to be physical and nasty.

Like when the Panthers crushed Thornton.

So much for Rhule talking **** about getting his team under control. Assuming, that is, he wasn't overruled by someone upstairs.

I dont condone the hit, but I do commend psychical play just over the line.

Like Rodney used to administer.

its these types of hits, as well as the mentality behind the player that delivers them that are contributing towards lower numbers in youth football

My wife's friend's husband is a meathead that used to play college and semi pro ball, and he lives for the big vicious hits.. posts on facebook how hes gonna turn his 4 year old son into a killer on the field, etc.. laughed when brandin cooks got KO'd in our superbowl, etc.. He thinks football is all about delivering hits like that on Wilkerson, like its a war of attrition... They need to get those players out of the game, the sport is violent enough just by its nature, its reckless to then add malice into that equation with intent to inflict more violence that threatens players careers/lives

You're right, they basically triple-teamed him and set him up to get killed.

Belichick usually does joint practices with teams run by guys he either worked with or respects due to their long tenure. Why the hell were we ever practicing with the Panthers?

I still have no idea how Matt Rhule got the contract he currently has. It's probably why he's still there.

Is there no retrospective action taken by the NFL ? Does a team (Patriots) have to appeal the play to the NFL for them to review and if necessary take action ???

I guess there is no such process ?

Maybe I'm missing it, but it doesn't look that bad from this angle. Guys are trying to take him down, he is trying to stay up, someone else comes in and hits him, and not particularly viciously. It looks like...football.

And from this angle and distance it is really hard to say much else honestly. If the uniforms were reversed I'd likely be shrugging and asking for more angles, audio, etc. I'm not saying it's nothing, but I'm saying this video is super hard to interpret.

Unless I'm looking at the wrong part of the film or something.

EDIT: I was looking at the wrong part of the film. Sorry. It's still hard for me to make out what exactly happened, but now I'm seeing the actual bit a little better.

it's not easy to find it, it's blurry and happens fast. Wilkerson is looking away from the camera, and Robinson comes in from the right side, goes helmet to helmet to the back of KW's head, then exults over him.

Why is Barstool talking about 3 players? I don't see Wilkerson engaging with 3 players at all. If I back up frame by frame from where Robinson is doing his moron-dance, I see Robinson hitting him one-on-one from behind. Nasty hit for sure, but not 3 players.

I see someone at the bottom of the screen getting triple-teamed but that was not Wilkerson.

Yes this is where I got confused in my commentary that I had to edit after the fact.
