Obviously the coaches would make the call.....would it be safer to put Ray on the PS because of his injury history and be less likely to be claimed ???? .......that is maybe risky too , so we will see. Also Ekuale will miss the first two games so that may allow some wriggle room

He was a top recruit was coached by Saban but was always hurt, now coached by BB and making plays at the NFL camp level he will be claimed if released.

Really, there is any question about who to keep when one is from Northwest Missouri State and the other from the Patriot's farm team (Alabama)?

More seriously, I'm not sure what the call should be on this. Roberts certainly looked good against the Giants. And he was a past Cliff Harris Award winner, as was Kyle Dugger, which would certainly seem to bode well for him.

And although I'm pleased to see Ray play so well so far, I have to say that he isn't at the same level of binky-hood for me as most of the Alabama players. To his credit Ray stayed for five full years at Alabama (despite Alabama having a plethora of talented defensive linemen he didn't transfer out to a school where he would be showcased more), his character seems pretty good (apart from one youthful public intoxication thing), and he was a 5 star recruit out of high school so his pedigree is very good. That said....there was really only one year at Alabama that he was really completely healthy, and it seemed like at the end of every year he was projected to really break out the following year and it never really happened, even in his mostly healthy last year he didn't really stand out among the other (admittedly talented) Alabama DL. I would actually be pretty happy if the Pats could figure out a way to keep both Ray and Roberts, but that would probably mean cutting someone like Guy and that probably isn't happening.

He is also better than people are giving him credit for. I know its been rehashed over and over (not sure that means its getting though to some here) but he wasnt as bad as advertised last year. He was getting open and Mac wasnt getting him the ball.
