Anyone else feel like it's Jakobi's final season here?

It takes two knees to catch passes. Yes, even from Brady. Unless you think Guerro has no magic juice that regrows knees.
The Peanut Gallery said the exact some thing about Gronk. He was done. His body was shot.

Edelman is playing with Brady. It's ridiculous to believe otherwise. Brady will pay Edelman virtually any price that he chooses. Brady will fix it so Edelman can practice when he wants. AB has not resigned in Tampa even though Arians the bad man is gone.

Why? Because Mr Patriot is wearing pewter in 2022.

That said, Gronkowski said he'd never play for another QB. Edelman has said he doesn't want to play for any other team.

That would be WAAAAY too high for him. In fact, I think we could have a situation similar in Miami where the inferior player gets paid higher (Byron Jones) than the surpirior player (Xavian Howard). That was rightfully corrected recently.
Also worth noting the Patriots have essentially zero cap space ATM, and any realistic extension would either:
(A) Push a lot of money into 2023 and beyond, which the Patriots have seemed reluctant to do so far; or
(B) Increase his cap hit, which they can't really do just yet.

I agree. Edelman has special loyalty to Tom and he's going to Tampa if he actually returns. I'll be very curious how this board turns on him reacts to this if it happens.

Despite the fact Edelman has indicated on multiple occasions that he is "Foxboro forever", wouldn't play for any team other than the Patriots, and explicitly said he wouldn't go to Tampa?

So Edelman is lying to all of us? People see what they want to, I guess.

He might be telling the truth, but you can't be this naïve.

How many times have you heard a player say one thing and then do another?

I only care about actions. I don't care WTF they say.

It is ironic that you mention Fauria when talking about Meyers.

I have compared Meyers to Fauria many times on Patsfan because they share the same trait.

When they catch the ball, their feet stop & they fall to the ground.

Brandon Lloyd had that very same trait also... It was one of the reasons why we lost in Seattle... A skinny slant that might've gone to the house but instead he just like falls forward after the catch... I was like WTF?

That said, why put that out there in the first place if he might change his mind?

There's no room for him in Tampa. Edelman was slowing down with us and it was apparent and Tampa's WR room is stacked right now and they need to make cuts, not add a reclamation project.

I don't see the logic, although I do it as likely that Myers is traded.

If the others look good, we have 4 and need no more. If not, we need Myers. The 4th is likely to be inactive if we keep Montgomery, an emergency WR (as Gunner was).

I wouldn't keep Nixon over Myers in any case.

I don’t think Meyers plays ST’s, , and it’s hard to stick as a back end of the unit player if you don’t play ST’s.

I think that Myers has to beat out Agholor or Parker to make the 53 this year.
Thornton is practicing at gunner, and is a lock as the #4 WR.

Anyone see the news about Edelman teasing a comeback to NE? I’m sure that‘s probably nonsense, but if it was real he’d probably be taking Meyers’ spot.
It seems like Jules is having trouble adjusting to life without fame.

It's also a brand thing. He's got projects he's trying to promote outside of football, and teasing a comeback is a quick and easy way to steal some free publicity. And I don't mean that in a derogatory way. He's marketing himself, and you do what you gotta do in that regard.

But this isn't the same as the Gronk situation. Gronk was beat up and worn down. Rest allowed him to heal up, not just physically, but get himself into the right mental state to go get beat up again. Edelman's issues are bone on bone. That doesn't just get better with rest.

Meyers is barely an average receiver so he should be relatively easy to replace. He's probably a goner because there's no way they're investing any serious money on him.

TB's WRs really only go 7 deep, and a healthy Edelman would leap-frog 3 or 4 of them...

He's a lock as the #5/6... There's NFW he's even close to being ready for the #4 role; that's Meyers' to lose...

He already beat out Agholor, Bourne & Harry last season. On PFF grading, he beat out all three former 1st rounders (Parker, Agholor, Harry) & was 2nd (#33) to only Bourne (#21). But I get it, what have you done for me lately.

I love Meyers, but just think he is more in the Chris Hogan mould . Would max top 6 million a year . Better to spend 15-17 million on true bonafide receivers rather than 10-12 million on agholor . Bourne would need to be paid next season . He is not playing on 5 million . So an extension is in order.
