Bruins 2021-2022

Unreal ... Sweeney will hire a tank coach ... he needs to be tanked.
Cassidy will be more than fine except the emotional parting with players will take some time.

Sweeney's a Ruins insider while Butch, though better at his job than Sweeny is at his, was always the outsider and therefore the most vulnerable should a firing be necessary to placate the ignorami...

Yeah the injuries sucked but the depth up front was Non-****ing-Existent because of Sweeney's disastrous drafting & trade-deadline panic moves...

Chiarelli was given 8 drafts (if you don't count 2006) before he was fired... This will be Sweeney's 8th draft this year; he must NOT be allowed to oversee a 9th one if this ****ing franchise has any ****ing hope whatsoever of not having to wait 39 ****ing years between championships again.

EDIT: Did not realize that this was Sweeney's final season under contract... If he isn't allowed to walk then he should be given only a one-year extension, so the whole world knows that he's next... And if he's given a multi-year extension then the whole world will also know that Sweeney has some really juicy photos of Charlie (Jacobs, not Coyle or McAvoy) doing something naughty at ManRay one night (or multiple nights maybe)...

I liked Cassidy as a HC and I'd imagine he will definitely land on his feet, most likely with a veteran heavy team.
I wouldn't be surprised if the B's go looking for a different coaching type for his replacement, someone with a lighter hand when it comes to the younger guys.

What concerns me more with the change is it's no secret Bergeron held Cassidy in very high regard and his firing might have an adverse effect on his decision whether or not he will re-up.

Wouldn't surprise at all to hear that Bergeron will say **** this bullsh!t and call it a career... This team is getting Worse under Sweeney's "leadership" not better... Why should he knock himself out for no reason? They're not winning another Cup until 2050 anyway.

Cassidy should send the Bruins a thank-you card. The team is going nowhere next season, unfortunately.
I'm all for them tanking and a major reboot after that...to include firing Neely and his buddy Sweeney.

Cassidy was not the root problem just like Claude was not the root problem.

Both HCs were done in by their respective GM's poor decisions.

So who are you guys rooting for now? Avs, Rangers, or Lighning?

I like the Avs. Was stationed in Colorado 5 different times in my 21 year AF career, so Colorado is easy to root for for me. They looked really impressive against the Oilers. Anyone other than Tampa is fine with me

Never ever go for any NY/NJ team ... feels dirty. Screw Tampa ... good but annoying. Colorado is Broncos but best available option for me.

So, according to reports, Cassidy was told that he was safe. Then, on Monday, Sweeney went to Cassidy's house and told him that he was fired.

One of Cam, Charlie & Sweeney changed his mind very, very recently...

the whole thing makes no sense and there has to be more to the story of why he was let go. Sweeney cant do anything right...draft, team make up, development etc...and now he cant even fire a guy without screwing that up as well. I truly don't understand why he and Neely still have their jobs. The Jacob's need to wake the F up and show at least a little interest in this team.

Yep...But it might take Bergeron's retirement, a season without even a PO appearance, and yet another year with Zero results from their draft picks besides Swayman before ownership does what really needs to be done...

Butch Cassidy to Vegas...

Good for him... The GKs still have some good pieces in place on defense and, when healthy, on offense... Their Goal-tending situation is unclear, however: Robin Lehner didn't have a very good season, Laurent Brossoit's not the long-term answer either, and an undrafted 25-year-old performed better than either of them albeit in a smaller sample size... They gotta be hoping that their youngster Isaiah the Barber Saville is their Jeremy Swayman, but he might need to spend the first few months of next season on the farm as Swayman did after their college careers ended.

So Butch has to figure that one out, but he seemed to have done a good-enough job doing that here, so I'm not that worried... I'd be more worried about ownership being impatient, again, if immediate results are not to their liking...

Tough to think the B's could really hang with either of these teams. The team speed and ability to dial up offense. Whether 5 on 4 or not is just vastly superior to what we've put up lately.

I'm glad Bergy is coming back and we'll see this group again but we're at least a few guys away.

What a series by both teams. TB showed a ton of fight and what a championship team looks like. Aves are just silly and were in a zone most of the playoffs. Quite a run.

Cale Makar is something else. McKinnon and others too but Cale is special. He could easily go down as top 10 D man.

Great series. Very entertaining. B's have a lot of work to do if we're serious about a SC anytime soon. And that's all this team has, is right now. It's not like you have a bunch of studs in wings. Time is now to be bold.

Multi-year extension for Sweeney

I have nephews (& a niece) on both sides of the family who attended UMass while Cale Makar played there... They've all seen more than a few games, and they also all say that Makar's skating was noticeably better than everyone else's, every night... and that the puck follows right along with him...

I'm glad the Avalanche (or the Rangers, I would've been cool with that too) beat Tampa... I still don't like the idea of NHL franchises in Florida, Arizona or Nevada (or the swamps of Jersey) while more deserving places like Quebec City, Salt Lake City, Milwaukee & Portland OR are left without...

Absolutely ****ing Disgraceful... over 45 ****ING YEARS of this ownership, and only ONE ****ING BANNER ADDED TO THE ****ING RAFTERS...

I truly, honestly wish that the ENTIRE Jacobs family died in a plane crash tomorrow so the team can be put-up for sale next Tuesday.
