DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread: Day 3

Bill is definately trolling Kraft after his comments about the draft (again) in Palm Beach. He told Bill the purse strings are tightened during FAcy, make it work with draft plus prior year players. Bill said: it is what it is.

Strange, Marcus Jones, and...(Thornton or Jones?)

Honestly think that strange, Jones, Thornton, and strong are going to contribute in a major way. The rest are just meh candidates for the practice squad or cuts.

I'm surprised that the Patriots have used ALL of their draft picks on day 3.
I was pretty sure we'd move at least a couple into next year's draft.
Taking a 2nd RB in round 6 felt weird and redundant.

We have taken 0 linebackers in this draft but pretty much every other need has been addressed.

In particular we got a lot faster on offense with the additions of WR Tyquan Thornton and HB Pierre Strong.

Funny thing is had we taken Dean at 29 after the trade down this pick would’ve been met with general approval. Even though come to find out Dean would’ve been available at 80.

Hoping for either Melton, Austin, Jobe or Allen. Allen is very underrated.

We could use a linebacker or another WR for our Mr Irrelevant pick.

Dean already had size issues when healthy, it's his offseason surgery I think that pushed him down into round 3. Patriots have taken 0 linebackers and didn't take a DL until round 6.

I think Strange absolutely starts.
They'll get Marcus Jones involved - returning, CB, slot WR?
No idea on Thornton. I really have no idea.
They liked Jack Jones, from everything I heard, so maybe he's on the 53.

Minimal return, in my opinion. I wasn't big on the class at all. I'm hoping their decision to stay away from Edge and DT means that they've had discussions with Flowers and/or Hicks (or others).

Also wondering if there are some trades coming:

Harry (can't see any way he stays on this team), but not sure anyone's taking him from us;
Harris (I'd hate it, but after Michel, I never say never);
Agholor ($10 million savings and they have Parker and Thornton);
Stidham, if they can get anything.
Bryant probably on the hot seat, as is Williams.

Pretty sure Bailey is sticking around for a while, or they would have grabbed a top punter.
Wynn seems a lock, possibly an extension, since they didn't draft a successor.

Surprised to not see Slade Bolden on this list. Would it shock anyone if he’s the pick at 245?

Nobody on the team has game breaking speed like Strong or Thornton. Both will play this year.
Unless Strong can't catch the ball (4 drops) or Thornton can't learn the playbook. We'll see.

Yep. And if Brady had been chosen in 1st round in 2000 it would have been regarded as the GOAT of reaches lol.

Forgot about Flowers and Hicks. I liked them a lot when they played here. Not current on their injury status. It’s been a factor in their performance since they left.

Harry would more likely go for a player - because the trade would get $$$ off the books, which the corresponding team will want to do as well.

Is it too early to head to Logan with Welcome Home Slade signs?

Bo Melton to Seattle.
