They were talking about Superbowl matchups and Boomer asked about a Favre vs the Pats Superbowl and then he said oh wait we already had that matchup and then he looked at Tuna. Tuna had kind of a pissed look on his face and said he remembered it well. Then he mentioned Desmond Howard and Keyshawn said Tuna had crappy special teams that year. Parcells said it was because his gunner, Troy Brown, was hurt that game.

Was that true, was Troy Brown the gunner in 96?

Funny how Tuna never mentioned the fact that maybe having his head up the Jets ass might have had something to do with it too, LOL.

Boomer was on target. He's no wimp when it comes to confrontation. Troy the gunnah was out. So was Parcells who phone records show had been in furious communication with the Jets before the Pats SB game. Traitor. Thus the Border Wars began. Jets won the 1st battles, taking Parcells and Curtis "Benedict Arnold" Martin, and then winning games against limp wristed Pete Carroll teams, but its been all Patriots since.

Marks the FIRST time I've heard Tuna complimented Tom Brady: He called him a great great player. Never heard him ever say anything that positive about Brady. I have heard him say of Brady that he was a good leader, and a good teammate and good game manager, but never 'great'!!!

I believe Troy Brown was indeed the gunner and Hason Graham had the task of replacing Troy for the game.

parcells rarely compliments the pats openly . i think its because he doesnt want to come off biased towards his son-in-law and BB.

Brown got injured in one of the previous playoff games where he made one of the Greatest Catches in NFL History; lying on his back reaching behind him to pluck a long 3rd down conversion. I think he tore his groin in the process. Thus he was missing; thus he was missing on the Howard TD return and thus the Pats lost the game.

Along with that SOB Tuna adding his stupid "I gotta Buy the Groceries" mindset. Boy, that did him a lot of good didn't it? He sure tore up the league after that...

f'n wanker...

Didn't Parcells bench special teams captain Larry Whigham before the game? If I recall correctly, Desmond Howard ran through Larry Whigham's lane to score the TD.

Does anyone remember this or have I mistaken Whigham for Brown?

No. No. No.

It was not a playoff game and Troy Brown did not get hurt in the process. It was against the Giants and we were down at the half but staged a great comeback and Troy's catch was one of the greatest in the history of the league as far as I'm concerned.

That game was key in getting a bye and the comeback was awesome.

Troy also wasn't just inactive for that game but he was also banned from the lockerroom. I guess the Tuna was worried about him being a distraction, which makes so much sense given how Tuna would never let himself be a distraction to the team.

Maybe if Parcells didn't spend half the week on the phone with the Jets arranging his next job, the Pats might have actually won that game.

The sting still lingers to Patriots fans how Parcells utilized so much energy on the days leading up to the SB with Green Bay plotting his exit to the NYJ's, and his obnoxious behavior to not return on the plane ride back to Boston. Yes, Parcells is an impressive figure who gave legitamacy to the New England organization. He brings a smile to your face because he is, first and foremost, an entertainer.

I think Parcells could have coached better ... however the Packers exploited our O-Line which was our week link.

We made it to the Super Bowl with a great defense and Bledsoe's arm. We couldn't move the Packer's D-Line that day. Had it not been for Bledsoe's interceptions then who knows ... perhaps we win. However, Bledsoe was forced to pass that day and a few INT's were inevitable.

All that being said ... Tuna sold us up the river ... because he liked Almacs ... instead of Stop & Shop ... and Almacs went under.

Parcels is not that entertaining to me. Chris "whooooop!" Berman has got to be the funniest commentator. And some of his little nicknames are hilarious. Tom "Here's a Story of a Man Named" Brady or A J "Touchy" Feeley...too much. And what happened to Dion Sanders with his flamboyant pimp suits?

Remember it was Berman who coined ICE COLD BRUSCHI

which I have in my avatar

Parcells rarely if ever talks t his son-in-law, but it's not because he and Pioli don't get along. It's because Parcells had a falling out with his son-in-law's wife.

You know how people, esp people in government, dance around questions? Berman dances around his own comments. He seems to take the long road to say something. Like Tuna did not know the Pats Packers played in the super bowl. What a stupid thing to say. Berman sucks, and should go away.

Umm, ya, I have to disagree here

Parcells tried to stick it to the Patriots by "moving up to the front office" and giving Belichick the HC in Jester land. And Belichick knew the Jokes, er, Jets were in serious personel trouble stuck it back at Parcells and took the NE job.

Parcells is still fuming about that. Remember the hype for the Tuna bowls? It was because instead of Parcells skrewing Belichick, Belichick skrewed Parcells.
