DRAFT Patriots select DB Marcus Jones at 85

I swear to god, if he's lined up against a 6'5 WR in the super bowl...

Seems solid, hope he works out at w/e role they carve out for him.

The Pats haven’t had a GOOD return specialist in years. Worst case scenario we have our new PR and KO returner. And maybe slip him in at WR from time to time. The size and lack of ELITE skill scare me a bit, it said he ran a 4.50 at his pro day. Not slow, but not blazing fast. Though when you watch his film, he looks faster. Also seems to not be afraid of hitting. But had surgeries on BOTH shoulders, so that worries me as well. Just a baller, but the Pats still don’t have a true #1 cover corner.

would love to see him occasionally at wr, because like Thornton he can take the top off of a defense

Halo-phucking-luya.

Guy’s great. Handsome and smart for the ladies and the tv executives.

Uber athletic. He’ll yeah!

Home run hittter when receiving punts. No more trotting.

He was timed at 4.39s

And Gunner has one of the highest punt return averages in league history. Too slow for kickoffs though

Where are you finding the 4.39. That would make more sense, when I watch the film, plays faster than 4.50. On returns, he’s very shifty as well.

Jaylen Waddle too :)
Just as long as he can stay healthy. I've heard he has a history of shoulder issues.
He won't stop him Hill is a cheat code, but if he can slow him down and all the other speedy receivers out there this pick will be worth it

Yup he's small at 5'8 174. But that speed is for real. At the very least he's a slot/nickel corner who can also return kicks for us. I'm less worried about the Marcus Jones pick than the Tyquan Thornton pick TBH. I can see Marcus Jones contributing in multiple ways even if he isn't that #1 outside corner we're still missing. He gives us a decent option for secondary depth and a ST return ace out of round 3. One pro comp I've read is Devin Hester. Not a bad pickup if he can be that type of player for us.

So, I'm "proud" of myself. I mocked the Patriots taking Jones with the #85 pick on Apr 4th. Probably the only pick I'll get right.. LOL.. Someone else mentioned they did as well, but not until Thursday of the draft.

This was my most coveted player in the middle rounds and the one I most wanted them to walk away with in the whole draft. A fun combination of archetypes, Tyrone Poole/Ellis Hobbs and Tavon Austin/Dante Hall. I suppose it safe to call him my binky. This guy is going to be a fan favorite.

Just read that Marcos Jones is recovering from shoulder surgeries and he says he should be ready for camp

I love this pick. It’s not just his speed but his Barry Sanders-like ability to make cuts while running very fast.

He can be used three ways: primarily st as the feared punt returner, slot db, or even as a receiver running sweeps or downfield routes.

A true Swiss Army knife type player who is uber athletic.
