2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

He worries me.
I don’t see him being a major player in the NFL.
I would really dislike that pick.
Yeah I get nervous when I hear the Patriots and a Edge in the same sentence. Don't we have like Ten on the current roster?? Seems like we have three young guys on the current roster at the Edge position who needs to step up.

Karlaftis is a bit taller than Trey Flowers, much quicker and faster with lower upper body strength. He is noted as being a great person and very hard worker that has a lot of room to grow. Not as big as Seymour. Slightly taller than Judon in testing, but quicker and more explosive, but again upper body not as strong. Judon was a 5th rounder. Karlaftis is talked about as a 1st rounder due to his size, explosiveness, and high ceiling. Like Hill and Zion might be available with a trade down as different mocks have him anywhere from Top 15 to top of the 2nd round.

I understand your hesitation as we might be able to draft an EDGE later - I heard this draft is deep in EDGE players.

I am not opposed to a D player is the First I just hope the player makes a IMPACT in year one. Judon is a fine player if this guy could be potentially better than him sign me up.

here we go…quay walker rumored to be the Pats pick

With a plethora of fast, young LB's currently on the team (and numerous SS')...I don't see that happening. I will be wrong.

Seems like Ronnie Perkins is a similar player though Quay Walker looks way faster. I personally like his teammate Nakobe Dean better.

Quay Walker seems to be the kind of "safe" pick that Bill likes. Plays for a great program, solid stats, sound fundamentally, etc.

I'm just not a fan of cutting a young, fast potentially productive LB for the Pats just to draft a young, fast potentially productive LB for the Pats. Again...nothing I think or anyone else here thinks will matter in the draft room tomorrow night. We shall see.

I'm just not in the "ILB in the first" mindset. Would I be upset if it is Dean or Lloyd, not really. I just personally see CB and Edge as our two top needs. Heck a run stuffing DT is higher on my list than LB (I say my list like my list really matters, but I know it does not). Trading down seems like it is going to be tough this year, so I'm of the belief we are gonna stick at 21. McDuffie would be nice but likely gone. J. Davis would do wonders for our run D, but probably not available. Andrew Booth in the 1st, Trade up a bit in the 2nd to try and nab Travis Jones, and look to grab Josh Paschal or Sam Williams in the 3rd. Then start working on the offensive line. As much as I'd like to see a new WR toy for this offense, trying to think like the Pats, I just don't see it happening early. As a Pats fan, I have resigned myself to the fact that we will need to see internal improvement amongst Jonnu Smith and Nelson Agholor to go along with DParker to improve through the air. But thats just me.

No. Actually, EDGE is where the Pats are weakest currently. They have Judon, Uche, and maybe Perkins.. Wise also plays the "EDGE" when the Pats go with a bigger front.

He's what the Pats have at "LB" for fast guys:
Mack Wilson - New to the system. Free Agent after this year.
Cam McGrone - Injured last year. New to the System.
Raekwon McMillan - looked good in TC. Only signed through this year.
Terez Hall - Spent all last year on the IR. Knows the system.

Then they have the plodders:
Anfernee Jennings - Injured all last year.
Ja'Waun Bentley - Signed a new 3 year deal.
Jahlani Tavai - Never got going last year. Was an issue on the Punt team.

Then you have Langi, who is more of a special teamer.

I think that there is room for a rookie like Dean or Walker who would be a clear upgrade to Hall. You bring one in so that if one of Wilson or McMillan doesn't work out or decides to walk, you have someone to replace them. Also, I'm not sold on Jennings as a long term player for the Pats.

Judon and Bentley will start. McMillian, McGrone, Uche and Wilson will find there spots and I think 3 of 4 of them will shine and play significant time.

Judon is an EDGE guy along with Uche and Perkins.

McGrone, Wilson, McMillan and Bentley are the "LBs". With the Pats running a 4-2 as their base, the LBs need to be able to play sideline to sideline.

I see 1 edge spot and 1 LB spot that a rookie could slot into. But that's also because I'm not impressed by Jennings at all. Maybe he'll surprise me at TC. But I think he's destined for the PS at best at this moment.

I think the front 7 is going to look different this year. A 240-245 Edge may be more of an LB in 2022...

McMillan, McGrone, Uche and Wilson...young and fast LB's

Once again, the Pats can field a team going in to the draft, so BPA at one of several spots, depending on who drops: CB, OG, OT, and possibly WR, ILB. All of those positions have players that can play but are easily upgraded.

This is a hypothetical I saw on Twitter.

Suppose that the Patriots can't trade down. The only offer on the table at 21 is from the Panthers, who offer their 2023 1st and an additional 2023 pick (2nd or 3rd, conditional on position) for 21. [After 6, their next pick this year is a late fourth.]

Would you do it? Do you think Nike would consider it, or would he just growl and hang up?
