OK, I've been thinking and watching and reading and I finally have something to say as we inch closer the draft.
Last night I went to one of those mock draft sites for the first time. My objective was for the Pats to trade down, add picks, and come away with a CB with a recognizable name, Travis Jones, and then a WR and OLman. I spent an hour trading with various teams with various deals, and never made it work. If I traded down too far the CB's were gone. BUT if I only traded down a bit, Jones was gone in the 30/s. So in my mind the ONLY way we are going to grab Jones is to trade down deep enough to make him our first pick and have plan B for CB.
I wasn't happy. But here's the thing. There are a LOT of quality players left in FA that have been mentioned here. For example, I don't know why Akeem Hicks isn't currently on the roster. Adding him AND Flowers seem like no brainer and would instantly Improve the DL substantially and I'm pretty sure we could sign them both for about $10MM total
Hick would make a LOT of sense. Lining up next to Barmore, in his ear all week teaching the kid just how to be a pro. It seems like a no brainer.
It is also interesting to read about all the WR that might be on the block or could be cut. So much talent and every year it seems so many more come out. That is why I'm lowering my sights on getting a WR early in this draft. It looks like there are so many options outside the draft still available.
