2022 NFL Draft, Who is YOUR GUY ?

The only prospect I want in the 1st who is likely to still be available is Daxton Hill. I believe Davis, Williams, Lloyd, and Wyatt will all be gone, so Hill is probably going to be the best pick at that point

I've actually warmed up to Olave as a 1st RD pick. Tied for WR3 with Jameson. Never killed it in college but very consistent and I think he'll be the same exact guy next level. He is who he is but he'll be that guy in the pros. Comes from a complex system at OSU. Not my first choice but he's safe as hell. Will come in right away, produce and won't be a problem. All of a sudden Parker, Olave, Bourne, Henry, Meyers, Agholor isn't bad at all.

I'll say Dax Hill since he hasn't been mentioned
Bacon can I check your temperature? Olave is really good on tape reminds me of a former Buckeye Terry Glenn talent wise. I agree with you about him being a safe pick no questione at all. That said I know everybody is in love with Davis but I'm not going salivate our a guy we have no chance of getting. P. s. I'm not opposed to Jameson Williams at 21 he should be ready by holloween.

Wandale Robinson. Running back/wide receiver. Super playmaker.
I would love Wandale Robinson on a double dip at the position in the Third.

Wandale Robinson for the reasons Ochmed laid out.

Everything I heard about Jordan Davis is that he is a one-trick pony, but he's very good at that one trick, which is stopping the run...
Which is what they need badly. I'm tired of watching their DL get pushed back.

Wilfork was a worthless pass rusher and he had a fine career.

We have no chance of getting Davis? Several scouts have said no way to him in the first.

He IS, right now, a 1-trick pony with a couple of (small) red flags, like weight and snap count. Many teams do not value the fire plug in the middle like BB does.

5 Edge guys could be gone before the Pats pick (Hutchinson, Thibiideaux, Johnson, Karlaftis, and Walker)
2 LBs (Lloyd and Dean)
4 CBs (Gardner, Stingley, Booth, McDuffie)
2 S (Hamilton, HIll - maybe even Brisker).
3 QBs (Pickett, Corral, Willis)
3-4 WRs (London, Wilson, Williams, Olave)
4 OTs (Ekwenu, Cross, Penning, Neal)
3 IOL (Linderbaum, Green, Johnson)

I doubt an RB or TE goes, and if a DT does, it's probably Davis. But there are 26 picks who could be gone in Round 1. It all depends on what a team needs, how they value positions, etc. Could be 5 WRs off the board before 21 - wouldn't really surprise me, given the new heights of WR pay.

I think Olave is a cross between Calvin Ridley minus the gambling problem and Tyler Boyd with a little more juice.

I've said since early last year and still believe that Davis will be in range or there at 21. He's not going top 10-12. You'll see 3-4 tackles, 4-5 pass rushers, 2-3 CB and maybe a QB or two taken. I don't think there's ever been a top 10 without a QB, WR, TE or RB taken in the top 10 and that could change this year. Anyway that's who you'll see come off the board first. Plus consider who's there at the moment. Giants have Dex they're not taking Davis and neither is Carolina. I can't see anyone else taken him over a OT, CB, Pass Rusher in that top 15 range. Think there's a 65-75% chance he's there for a small trade if we like. The chargers really are the biggest obstacle.

I’m gonna go with Jermaine Johnson. I think him or Karlaftis will drop. I’d take which ever is available.
Also, watching Olave reminded me of Marvin Harrison. Not as fast though. Funny that his kid is now at Thee Ohio State U so I can watch him next year.

Jamison Williams, but I’m ready for a trade down and then a DB no one has heard of.

I agree with both of these, Johnson or Karlaftis.

If we miss on both, then look for Leal or Enagbare in the 2nd or 3rd.

64.8%. That’s the percentage NFL offenses passed on first down in 2021. The game is much different than 2003 when Mt. Washington manned the middle. It’s different than it was during the bulk of Vince Wilfork’s career.

The challenge is to be able to adequately defend the run on early downs without compromising your pass defense. Does having a Dlineman who offers little if any pass rush capability turning a 4 man rush into a 3 man rush compromise your ability to defend the pass? 5 yard runs will beat you, but 40 yard passes will beat you quicker. Plus, putting a fat guy on the nose if the center doesn’t automatically give you a good run defense. There are still 6 other run gaps to defend.

If you think Davis or Jones can be a factor in the pass rush, then you draft them high, If not, you can’t justify a high draft pick on basically a situational player who plays 25 to 30 percent of the snaps. It’s a role the Pats need to fill, but there will be 330 pounders who’ll be available in the 4th or 5th round to fill it.

There will be a CB available at 21 they believe can be coached into being a starter and a top 10 player at his position. I don’t know who that is, but that should be their pick.

10. Jalen Tolbert, South Alabama (rSR, 6'1", 194 pounds)
Alec Pierce, Cincinnati (SR, 6'3", 211 pounds)

15. Justyn Ross, Clemson (rJR, 6'4", 205 pounds)

16. Calvin Austin III, Memphis (rSR, 5'8", 170 pounds)

Romeo Doubs, Nevada (SR, 6'2", 201 pounds)

The Pats have a group of small and fast LBs now, now even counting Peppers, Dugger, and Phillips, who all might be lining up near the line.

If they don’t get stout up front, teams will be 2nd and 5, 3rd and 2, all game against them. Making that shift of side-to-side lbs instead of downhill muscle isn’t going to be easy. Having a giant like Davis in the middle is just what might make it work.

For every other need they have, the difference between the guy they can get at 21 probably isn’t much different than what they might find in the second. No McDuffy? Then Gordon.

The drop off from Davis to Jones, imo, is big, and from Jones to any one else in the middle of the DL, even bigger.

That’s why he’s the guy if they can get him, in my book.

I mean, if Hutchinson or Wilson or Stingley or Sauce is there, that could certainly change my mind, but I don’t expect any of them anywhere near 21.
