Unless it was a sweetheart deal I believe they had no interest in signing Fournette but wanted to use his visit to accelerate Harris's decision making. Pats knew TB would have the last shot at Fournette and by process would establish the RB market so Harris can see what he was competing with.

The fact that he got $9m guaranteed should indicate to Harris that his market is less than that. Who knows.

Tanguay is not a smart man, knows very little about sports and can definitely be annoying but he is eminently more likable than Nick Wright. I actually feel bad at times for Tanguay. He doesn’t really have a place in the Boston sports scene (hasn’t for years) and struggles for every scrap he can get. His book sound absolutely terrible. The only thing he has going for him is a good set of pipes.
