It's easy, and only takes a few moments. You don't have to think its true but it is in alot of cases especially with elite DE's. There is an article about it with a graph with players names, ages and how many sacks they had after 30. Quite a few had double digit sacks to 35, some at 36 and 37. Reggie White had 16.5 sacks at 37. Bruce Smith had 11 sacks at 36. Strahan had 9 sacks at 36. I could go on and on.No…I don’t think that’s true.
Ya he was the number 1 graded defender in the playoffs last year and he did that at 32, turning 33 a month after the SB.Best thing about this deal for Buffalo: Miller is a guy who plays bigger in bigger games.
It's 5.1 this year against the CAP, 18.7 next year, 21.2 the year after. Then, if cut to save the 17m salary in 2025, they eat 7,4 in dead money.
Yeah Florio dunked on a lot of people bashing the deal.
It’s basically a 3 year deal, with a base salary or $1 mil in 2022. $13 mil in 2023. And $17 mil in 2024.
Not bad at all.
Yes, as posted earlier, this is really a 3-year contract for $53.4M (including game and workout bonuses). This is less than $18M a year. I wouldn't fuss about the $7.4M of dead money. That is just pushing $7.4M from the 2022 cap to the 2025 cap. The total (including the dead money) is less than $54M.It's 5.1 this year against the CAP, 18.7 next year, 21.2 the year after. Then, if cut to save the 17m salary in 2025, they eat 7,4 in dead money.
Miller might be the perfect guy to get you guys past KC, if it comes to that. Him making THE play late in a game against Mahomes wouldn't surprise me at all.Yes, I was correcting Upstate.
Ok yes I was but that was just a coincidenceit's just amazing. people here sh I t ing on buffalo signing von Miller bc he's 32 but these same people were jerking off when the Pats signed 57 year old James Harrison
Can you go on and on?You don't have to think its true but it is in alot of cases especially with elite DE's. I'm quite sure guys like Von Miller and Chandler Jones will still be very successful in 2 or 3 years when they hit 35.
Top 10 guys are elite. He's the oldest on that list but still really good.Crazy money for an aging player who, while still good, is no longer elite.
That's a great deal for a guy like Miller that can create havoc. It's 5.1 this year against the CAP, 18.7 next year, 21.2 the year after. Then, if cut to save the 17m salary in 2025, they eat 7,4 in dead money.
The curse's correct name is the Wade Phillips Curse. He's the one who benched Flutie.(2) time Super Bowl Champion. Super Bowl MVP. He brings a winning culture to the locker room. They are trying to break the curse of Doug Flutie.
Can you go on and on?
Because you're naming 2 guys that played in the 1980s and another guy who retired 15 years ago. I mean, if we're going to go back 45 years and come up with 3 names, that's not saying much.
Some good names. You want some recent names?
Terrell Suggs- at 35 had 11 sacks
Julius Peppers at 37 had 11 sacks
Dwight Freeney had at 35 had 8 sacks.
These guys are all considered elite pass rushers.
Guys like Von Miller and Chandler Jones are considered elite pass rushers and both were still playing at a high level at 32. Jones had 11 sacks last year and Miller 9.5. Miller was amazing in the playoffs and just turned 33.
For sure not every elite pass rusher will play really well to mid 30's, injuries obviously play a huge factor and some players just wanna retire. Some good names.
But we did this exercise a few days ago and found a lot of All-Pros and top 10 guys who started to plummet around age 33.
I'd also say that there is very little comparison between Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Julius Peppers and Von Miller. Totally different kinds of players. Strahan, Kearse, Demarcus Ware, Jared Allen, Simeon Rice, etc. These are guys who are on the lighter side like Miller. They all also started to wind down around age 33. So it's a 50/50 proposition age-wise for the top pass rushers.
All these guys are below the 290 to 300 pounds that Bruce Smith, Reggie White and Julius Peppers played at.
