The Steelers are who I thought they were!!!!. They are a team that has a hard time showing up week in and week out. They got lucky last week against Cleveland, and this week their luck ran out. The Steelers are highly overrated like I been saying all year, and this week proves it. Not like it wasn't proved before losing to Denver and Arizona.

Our line is bragged about which I don't know why. Alan Faneca, our best offensive lineman is primarily a run blocker which he is very dominant at, but he isn't known for his pass pro. I think our line was overrated last season too, but Jeff Hartings at center provided a solid anchor and losing him to retirement has really left the whole unit in disarray.

Though, it seems like your probably one of those guys who doesn't watch any steelers games but feels free to comment on them and pretend to know what your talking about. I agree with that. Ben running around making the big plays makes his line look much better at pass protection then they are.

I thought it was 7 sacks, but in any event to have 9 sacks in 9 games, and then to lay down almost the same amount in one game is weird.

Living in Ohio, I've seen a lot of Steeler games over the last decade or so. Ben is a very good quarterback, but he has a weakness in that he loves to gunsling sometimes. He is the greatest quarterback Pittsburgh has had in a long time. Steelers' line always seems to take a hit each year as far as player departures and such, but they always seem to patch it together. The team is one of the best drafting teams in the NFL (along with the Ravens, Colts, and Pats.) I don't think the Pats will have too much trouble against the Steelers this year. Pittsburgh does not play well when they have to play catch up. Pats should be able to get a 14-pt lead at some point during the game, then the rout might be on.

As a Steelers fan, I will certainly agree that our O-line has been playing HORRIBLY in pass protection this season! Of course, losing Hartings definitely didn't help matters, but really that's no excuse. Another problem Pittsburgh has been having the past few weeks is establishing the running game. I love Parker's potential to break the long one, but I've always said that if the Steelers are unable to replace Bettis, they're gonna be in trouble. They desperately need a big bruising back that can come in and get the tough yards and wear down defenders, thus making Parker's threat of speed even more dangerous. Establishing the run early in the game is crucial to Steeler football, and when that doesn't happen, their gameplen gets very sketchy.

I agree that I wouldn't want any other QB in the league behind THAT O-line. Realistically, Ben isn't on the same level with Brady as a pure passer at this point, but there's no other QB in the NFL that's escapes pressure as well as Ben right now. His O-line stats would look MUCH worse without his ability to get out of trouble and get rid of the football.

Special teams really need to step up their game as well, as they're quickly being exposed as a big weakness.

It definitely was a tough game to watch, but give credit where credit is due. The Jets looked like a revitalized team, nothing of the same caliber of play they've displayed earlier this season. That bye week definitely did them some good! The Steelers still SHOULD have beaten them, but it seems that nothing can be a sure thing anymore in the NFL. Well, except maybe that the Pats will put up 50 points.


All I can say is that it would be a mistake to overlook the Steelers, despite their imperfections. They're a young team that will certainly go through some growing pains this season under a new head coach. If they can step up their intensity and play at the level they are CAPABLE of, they can definitely compete with the Pats. If they can't limit the mistakes that have haunted them over the past few weeks though, they could be in for BIG trouble December 9th. I hope they can make it interesting!

Anyone else suprised about that Indy game? Honestly I wasn't.

Some folks prefer a QB who in the SuperBowl has, what, a 22 rating? Others prefer the greatest of all time, Tom Brady. Were Brady not available I'd take Manning in a heartbeat. The fact tht Rthlsbrgr really is one of the better QBs in the league is a sad testament to the dearth of quality QBs playing in the NFL this season.

I watched most of the game, and I thought that the Steelers were playing "not to lose" instead of listening to the immortal Herm, and "you play to win the game".

Rotheswhoyourmommaburger never gets taken down by the first guy, he has a knack of slipping out of sacks, but I thought that he was overlly careful with the football throughout the game. I think that he was in a this team stinks, as long as we don't beat ourselves, they can't beat us mindset, which in the end cost them the game.

The Pats will see the gunslinger Rotheswhoyourmommaburger. The Steelers have a good defense, it should be an interseting game.

BTW, your arguements would hold some more water, if you refrain from the I'd rather have Rothesandwich, than any other QB stuff.

I think you all are missing the point of SteelerSteve and my comments. I think I can speak for both of us when I say that our point is that we'd rather have a QB like Big Ben behind OUR underperforming O-line. I don't think anyone would argue that Ben is a better QB than Brady, but given the situation with the Pittsburgh O-line right now, I'd rather have a QB like Ben who can scramble, avoid tackles, and still make plays, then a less-mobile passer such as Brady or Manning. Any other QB in the league (Brady included) would have absorbed significantly more sacks when faced with the kind of pressure ben has been getting this season. Does that make more sense?
