Corner competition is definitely still the top need at the moment. Second is more competition at ILB and Edge (to push Uche and Perkins).

Bentley isn't awful and in the right role I would be happy he is back but he isn't the type of LB the league is trending towards. We need speed at LB. Running backs and TEs were routinely turning swing passes and check downs over the middle into 10+ gains because of LBs couldn't get there quick enough.

I hear you. His type of LB (like Spikes and Roberts before him) will always have a role in BB’s system, but the hope is that it’s limited to run-first downs.

I agree about corner but edge and DT are more needs than ILB because we have a good quantity at ILB
If we go for another ILB it needs to be quality
We already have mcmillan mcgrone Bentley Wilson Jennings who can play there and Tavai
We lack DE and DT imo more than ILB

Need more speed but desperately need someone on running downs and an LB that knows the defense that can help the kids.

He prob played a little too much last year and is exposed in the passing game but w/ 109 tkls and 3 FFs he did fine as a rotational LB.

Very glad to hear this. Bentley was my last "must re-sign" of the UFA's.
People seem to forget that last year he lost weight and was playing faster. It wasn't his fault that HT & Collins lost their legs. He's not the "cover LB", but he's a solid replacement for HT. I think with Mcmillan & Wilson, we'll have a good rotation. And Uche and Perkins are going to be forced to play more just by the numbers, I hope they deliver.

Give me a NT that can stop the run to shore up the DL. Let Uche and Perkins eat. Wilson, Bentley, McMillan and McGrone can be good at LB. If one available, draft a CB at 21. Heck I’d let Wade and Bryant battle for nickel. Trade JJ.

The young players may take their lumps, but if we’re going to refuse to actually improve, then we need to see what the youngins can do,

Both could use quality, but given the resources seemingly available, I'm guessing there are more low ticket vet additions to be made and then add high upside talent in the draft.

DT I think is fine. They're three deep there in a rotation of Godchaux, Barmore, and Guy. It's one of those positions where I'd love another stud next to Barmore, but there's at least a solid rotation of NFL players there. I think we're just short of that at Edge and LB.

Bentley played fair well last year. Had he was resigned. The LB core was looking a little light and Bentley can be an excellent down hill LB when he guesses right.

Im on the record saying he was our best Off-the-line LB last season, so I approve it, if it's reasonable

See this is where I think we have different definitions of "need". Need to me is a position where we don't have any competent starter level players. DT has three of them. You may want better ones, but that position is filled going into the season. ILB has one player we know can work. Same with the Edge. Corner has Mills above his station, so is probably two short really. Those are needs to me. DT is a "nice to have".
