NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

Definitely. If you nail every draft, you gain a level of flexibility that almost makes the cap moot, because you'll ALWAYS have good, young, cheap talent in the pipeline.
This really explains the Von Miller move with the Bills.

Rousseau, Addison, Epenesa, Basham, Oliver, etc. Lots of draft picks and money, 2 1st rounders.

You spend all these assets to attack the opposing QB, and you then just throw your hands up in the air when it doesn't happen, and you go the FA route.

Agholor was above market last year. This year he wouldn't be. But they could have

But did the Pats need pay top of the market price (at least for last year) for two TEs? Maybe they just got one last year. Tried to develop Asiasi. And then this year, they could have paid Robinson a little more than what he got with the Rams. Or another top free agent who they didn't go after this season.
I think they just failed with Jonnu. Henry's contract is in line with his production. If Jonnu had produced in line with expectations, I'm not sure we'd be having this conversation. It's a FA failure.

For all we know money was the same and he picked Rams over Pats.
Can’t blame him.
They are the superbowl winners.
Mcvay is known as a fun coach and Chi town to Cali.

We are now back to if people want to freeze their ass off and get screamed at you will have to pay them way more.

Any links Ashley? I havent read about it...

If it's true, Kraft needs to go now
Hey Jay, hope you're doing well!!!

No links, but I can I have heard from reputable people(I'm not saying sources) that know the Pats well, that they have been hearing this within the organization....

I wouldn't say Kraft has to go, but I would be very disappointed if this is true, which I am starting to believe is the case.

Let's be honest, BB doesn't have another 10-15 years as a head coach...he is closing in on Shula's all time win record in another few years, he wants to win now, it makes too much sense all around.

We need linebackers too, and he looked the part in the pre-draft process. I’d be happy.
I would be curious to see what we'd be willing to pay, but if he can improve our team, I'd be all for it and as long as it doesn't preclude us in signing more O-lineman and corners.

not sure how I would feel about this, especially with needs along the o-line and in the secondary, specifically cb:

While the OL and CB are more dire right now, LB is still very much a need. We just don't have any proven ILB on the roster at the moment, unless you count Mack Wilson. We're HOPING that MacMillan, McGrone, Wilson, and maybe Hall can play, we need more talent in the room. We could get someone in the draft, it seems deep there, but much like with Mac Jones last year, I want veterans that are going to force a rookie to prove he's ready before just handing him a job. I don't know Vander Esch enough to say whether he's that guy, but the position still falls into the category of "We need professional bodies" IMO.

He has a lot of upside. He had a great rookie year. Then the next two years were marred with injuries. Last year, he was a bit underwhelming. Maybe this year he will come in healthy and return to his rookie year promise.

If the offers were similar and he chose the Rams because they are the Super Bowl winners and a favorite this year, that is one thing. But word is that they weren't willing to meet his price. Robinson got a below market deal for the Rams.

Bingo, and I would say it's fair to say the same thing about the Patriots with the skill positions. Not hitting on Asiasi or Keene led to Jonnu and Henry (with one working out and the other not so far), and the Harry miss led to Agholor (I think Bourne fills a different role and might have been targeted regardless). A few of these kinds of things are expected of every team, it's sort of the par of NFL team building. The trouble comes when you have too many in quick succession and you end up playing catch-up, filling holes in free agency, which then forces cap manipulations, which then limits other things down the road. The only way to reset is to have a few good drafts in a row.

A LB with multiple neck surgeries last two years, no thanks.

But they thought it worth a first to make the trade. That's what matters for this discussion. People complaining about too much being given up are ignoring that BB thought Brandin Cooks, who's obviously not as good as Adams, was worth a first round pick. It was actually more than that, as the trade was a 1st and a 3rd for Cooks and a 4th.

But you do make a good point with your post. Not only did BB think Cooks was worth a 1st round pick and more, the Rams did, too, giving up a 1st and a 4th for Cooks and a 6th.
Of course the Raiders will also be paying Adams about 28 million a year, and also gave up a 2nd, so not a very good comparison at all.

Falcons now have pushed back the $7.5 million roster bonus due Friday to QB Matt Ryan to Tuesday, giving Atlanta four extra days to hear the Deshaun Watson decision and be able to trade Ryan if necessary, per league sources.
Trashy! Add that to the reasons that I don't support the organization.
Whatever you think of Matt Ryan, he gave his all to the Falcons and deserved to be treated better than this.

The expectations are lowered by the day. The pats had a top 10 offense & Mac was a top 10 QB by most metrics once the OL stopped being seive after week 4.

Please sign either a starter at LG or RT. Can we atleast have pass protection? Anyone?

I think it'd be a good move. They have needs at LB too. They could certainly look to the draft for OL/DB - they've developed players well at those positions.

Edit: uh nevermind I guess
