2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

It's 2022 no one takes PFF seriously anymore lol. I don't expect you to admit you're wrong but you look silly bringing up PFF.

These are the guys you're relying on lol ...

My opinion > pretty boys that don't know ball and Europeans working for a visa.

There's like 3 people who are good there and they're useless save for snaps by position and stuff like that. Their basically a fantasy football outlet that couldn't grade trench play to save their lives.

*edit*
I didn't just give my opinion. I listed several teams with WR barley cracking 500 yards or a team like the Ravens who force feed two players.

So who do you get you rankings from?
Who do you trust?

Your a guy who seems to like the Patriots receiving core, so I am wondering where you get your valuable information

Sidetracking a bit.. Allen Robinson is also outta the picture . Now I have the following premises behind Pats reluctance.

A) they want Mac to prove that he can make ordinary receivers look much better before investing additional capital.
B) they feel confident with agholor and other uncapped wide receivers ( Nixon and draft picks) to pick up slack .
C) they still wanna punt on Harry and hope he becomes the monster contested catch player provided Mac throws some balls his way to contest.
D) given up on this season as competing season and use it as practice.
E) A sleeper signing is in works ... Maybe OBJ at discount with high performance and availability based guarantees . 3 year 40 million and low guaranteed amount.

I've been saying this since last summer and it's the biggest point people need to focus on. Pats have $ to spend and could create more if they wanted. This is a tinkering year. Depending on what happens next year is more "all in" imho.

Wouldn't be surprised but I'm thinking we use a draft pick. Possibly add a FA next year. We'll see.

And you threw up in your mouth after you said that. I totally agree with (A) that they want to see if Mac can make average or above average players around him better. The training wheels will be off in 2022 it's Macs time to shine.

Let me ask you an honest opinion.

We are both Pats fans, but this is a simple question.

If you had to rank the Patriots WR from 2020 & 2021 talent and performance level, would you rate them…..

Above average
Average
Below Average - Gets my vote 100%
Last year we had a slightly above average WR/TE corp

PFF is ok some stuff is useful but lately their grades, rankings and opinion pieces are trash. Watch the clip above. Two adults legitimately question who's more valuable. Garrett or Tate. That's become par for course with them.

Idk I like to watch film. Decipher a few nerd stats or metrics and make up my mind. I like to do things myself if I can.

With respect don't need someone to help me see we had a better collective than the jete, Ravens, Lions, Bears, Texans, Saints and 1 or 2 others last year.

Can we improve. Absolutely but we're not as bad as you make it seem imo.

You lost all credibility rating the Patriots receivers above average last year.

I am sure I can find negative past comments on most ranking sites & writers to question their rankings.

Look at clowns like Ron Borges, who laughed at us drafting Seymour over
David Terrell. That was back when Globe readers actually valued his opinion

Only in @cupofjoe1962's book does 38 receptions for 410 yards > :
Meyers - 84 receptions for 866 yards
Bourne - 55 receptions for 800 yards
Henry - 50 receptions for 600 yards.

BTW.
Bryan Edwards: 34 receptions 571 yards:

Did you forget Renfrow?
103 Receptions, 1,038 yards & 9 touchdowns

Which Patriots receiver was better than Renfrow in 2021?

They also had Ruggs last year early, but
They will have Davante Adams with him in
2022.

You & your Pom poms would rather have Meyers?

If you actually believe that they had the worst group of wide receivers in the NFL last season, you are publicly declaring that you don’t know what the f*ck you’re talking about.
We did have the worst receivers in 2020
& 2021.

The Pom Pom people just can’t grasp it.
One even said that our receivers were above average.

Where are you?

We’re our receivers last year……. ?
Above Average

Below average - My choice 100%

I don't remember you posting last year when we were on a 7 game winning streak and had the best record in the AFC....it's funny how that works.

I posted it after the 2020 season.

Feel free to look & you will also find that I never praised Meyers or Agholor in any way.

I do like Bourne, but I also understand his limitations. Do you?

Just because I cast honest views on players does not make me a Patriot hater.

It just eliminates me as a Pom Pom shaker.

I find it funny how when we're doing good, you're nowhere to be found on here. You come here and post your negative banter.

I have been a Patriots season ticket holder since before you were born, if you were born in 1992.

I have also been a member here since you were a teenager so don’t act like I just show up to be a contrarian.

I post my honest view, good or bad on the Patriots & I am not afraid to take an unpopular view, if I feel I can back it up.

Saying the patriots have the worst receivers may not be popular, but I believe I am right.

Even if there were 3 or 4 teams with worse receivers, are you happy with the 28th best receivers?

I am not !

You never did answer my question….
Rate our 2021 receivers

I say below average and I challenge you to explain otherwise.

I didn't know you asked me a question.....Hmm, a gun to my head and I would say they are average at best, probably a little below average. We could definitely use a true number 1. I like Bourne and Meyers and think Nelson is ok, but we could definitely use that number 1 guy....that's why I was hoping we would get Robinson. Funny thing is, the last time we had that true number 1 guy was Moss and we didn't win with him. I would like to get Mac some more weapons though.

I couldn’t agree more !

Sometimes I do like to stir the pot, because the Pom Pom people always bite, but I am
A Pats fan who wants them to win.

Mac is not ready yet to get a shiny new toy. He needs to earn it which means he needs to make the average guys better. If bill sees the progress I am sure we will open the draft priority and cheque book for offense in 2023 else it will be invested on defense relegating Mac to a game manager .

I truly hope Mac is our future and we don't need to expend draft capital next year on a QB.

Lol Tom Brady had earned it for years tho.

Wonder how much the Rams would want for Woods.
I like the player and he would be a good fit in the offense but Woods would have to take a pay cut as part of the trade. and Bill is not going to take on that cap hit for a soon to be 30-year-old WR coming off an ACL tear. I could definitely see the patriots being interested if he is waived, however.

Not targeting him was a big free agency mistake in 2017. They knew him well, having faced him twice per year, but obviously did not recognize his potential. His initial contract with the Rams was for good money at the time but was not outrageous.
