Brady Unretiring

He never would have retired in the first place if everyone just left him alone after a fresh loss. At least he will get a do-over on his retirement and remember to thank both US and the Bucs in a single statement.
Of course. After all no other player in his mid-forties would ever be asked about retirement.

I agree with those who think wanted to play for another team and it wasn’t going to happen. Because he looks really frickin’ stupid right now. If this is the kind of attention he craves he needs a new agent or some PR coaching. Because now it looks like he couldn’t stand being around his family after barely two months. Either that or he literally has no other interest in life than playing football, which is a bit pathetic.

Tbh, I was surprised he walked away after throwing for 43/6. That just amazes tf out of me.

Then they got Godwin back on the franchise tag but Marpit retired. Maybe he unretires too? The defense lost a couple of pieces as well. Can he get back to the superbowl? I guess we’ll find out?

Wish he hadn't retired and just said he wasn't going to make his decsion until the dust had all settled from the season. Hopefully this doesn't become an anual thing, and hopefully, he doesn't end up regretting the decsion.

Disconnected thoughts....

What about the self-indulgent movie project that involves the old biddies worshipping Tommy?

That project is where he lost my dad. Biggest fan ever. After the announcement of that movie my dad was like, WTF.

Yes, but who unretires after 6 weeks? He should have just said "let me think about it and get back to you."
Speculating here but I think he went into a funk after the LA loss and even prior to the game had been leaning towards retirement. After the game he huddled with his inner circle and shared with them he was leaning towards retirement. A mole leaked it to Darlington and Shef and they perhaps gave him that final nudge when he wasn't fully ready.

I almost think his Feb 1 note was more for him to embrace the idea of retirement than for his fans.

In hindsight, Tom never should have caved in to the media looking for confirmation. The problem is Tom can't help himself. He and the TB12 brand need it.

With Lance on deck was there ever really a chance Brady was going to SF?

I always thought there was a chance, he's from the area and the team is really talented.
It would have been a great story.

Just feels like with Lance there it might be very difficult to get on the field if Brady was to tell them he wants to play for as long as possible. Unless they want to start their rookie now...

Lance is not ready. Montana said he heard that from people within the Niners. Brady wanted to go somewhere other than Tampa and when he realized Arians wasn’t going to let him go he decided to come back

If I had to guess there was some wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. Whether it be an issue with Arians or trying to find a way to get out of Tampa and probably to San Francisco. Things always seemed weird about his whole retirement from the start. First Schefter and Darlington reported Brady was retiring then Brady's camp refuted it only to announce it on his own a few days later. Then within a week or so there were rumors he wasn't really going to retire and then the reports about friction with Arians. Too much smoke to be no fire when it comes to things happening behind the scenes.

Dunno. I think if Brady found his way there that would have been an admission that the Niners made a huge mistake with Lance. I can't see them sitting Lance until Brady really is ready to walk away in a couple of years - that would mean he starts in year 4 of a 5 year rookie contract with no progression at all.

It's a good thought. It's also possible he realized his Brady brand was going nowhere and needed something else to do. After the season he was acting like he was this big businessman and all and was probably trying get get the Brady brand on the same level as the Jordan brand, which he's never going to do...

If the rumors are true that they don't think that Lance will be ready to start next year, sure there was a chance if the Bucs would have been willing to trade Brady or let him out of his contract. If Lance isn't ready to start next year, the 49ers better have a really good short term solution at QB (far better than Garoppolo) or Lynch and Shanahan will really be on the hot seat. Unfortunately, I think getting Brady was their only option for that that I can think of.

The thing is that before the draft last year, many people were saying that Lance is so raw that he could need several years on the bench before he would be ready to start. That is why he started the draft process with a late first round/second round projection.

For you Bucs fans on the board.

There is no question the TB12 brand isn't as lucrative, established or stands on it's own as the Jordan brand and it never will.

I don't think Tom is coming back just to keep the brand alive. With that said his return puts more water and fertilizer on the lawn in the hopes the root system grows a little more.

His relationship with the HC still seems rotten.
