McCourty had good moments last year and I trust him for one more year, as we fill the gaps in the defense in front of him. The bad ones stick bc he was so reliable for so long, it was weird seeing the missed angles and all that.

But, we've seen some older safeties play. Its all about good positioning and McC has good stuff between his ears

Of all possible returnees, he's the one I was worried the most to lose, so Im happy with his signing.

Put me in the happy camp. DMC may not be who he once was, but he’s still a good FS. This gives Bill the chance to ease Bledsoe/Mills/Draft pick into the role. He was going to cost nearly 7M for not being on the team anyways, right? Seems like a no-brainer to me. Hopefully Bill & Co. can do enough that by the time we head into the draft, you could go after who you want without worrying on first year contributions.

Mccourty clearly lost a few steps last season. He is not nearly as physical as he used to be. But he does a great job of getting the secondary lined up properly snd communicating properly,

The problem was we have no other experienced free safety in the roster.

I guess we train Bledsoe to be the backup free safety this year snd draft battle of alabama next season.
