OT: Stafford a Hall of Famer?

I don't agree that the Pats were a dying franchise. They were in the SB in the 80s against a defense that hadn't been scored on in the playoffs. Before that we had one stolen by Ben Dreith in the 70s. As for Tuna and Drew, they both contributed to a loss in another SB in the 90s. Then came 2001 and the rest is dynasty.
The franchise was on a 14-50 skid with a string of 4th or 5th place finishes until Parcells and Bledsoe showed up. Raymond Berry had an admirable coaching career but the franchise had to suffer through 1-15 with Rod Rust and 2-14 with **** MacPherson before Parcells got things back in order. Since that '96 Super Bowl the franchise has really only had two bad seasons, the pre-and-post Brady seasons of '00 and '20.

He's 100% right but still a total douchebag (as he always has been) to be talking about other players (who have never said a thing about him) while he still an active player. Classless.

If he is, I am too

?

I didn't even say anything bad.

You don't know me. Who are you to know if I'm a jackass or not?

You mine as well convert to becoming a pats fan since you can’t quit this board.

It's way too early to tell.

Suppose Stafford plays four more years and averages 4000 yards and 25 TD over that span. Then he retires ahead of Marino in both categories. Six seasons at that rate and he passes Favre in yards. I understand that volume stats mean less and less over time, but there's a point where they can't be ignored.

Similarly, one can argue that the Stafford trade pushed the Rams over the top. If they should go another 3 - 4 years of deep playoff runs, his case begins to look much stronger.

Of course this is all purely hypothetical. If Stafford retired today, I would say it's a solid "no", but the book is not closed yet. I would put him in similar standing to Eli or Rivers, maybe a little ahead of Ryan.

He will get in imo. SB win and passing yardage will be enough.

Thing is, if he's in, should Matt Ryan be in too? Ryan has the MVP.

Thoughts?

Whether he should be in is a different question.

1 Pro Bowl. 0 All-Pro. 86-95 record.

What is HoF for? Just being in a pass heavy offense? Who next? Jameis Winston? And he led the League in passing one more time than Stafford has.

Stafford has the most 4th quarter comebacks since entering the league in 2009, even moreso than Tommy boy. And when he's finished he'll likely be #1 in this category. All things considered, I think he's on the cusp of getting in. He has at least 4-5 years of good football left and maybe even longer. And he threw for 30+ touchdowns in 2011 and 2015 as well as this past year.

Errr........ so if you always win with blowout wins you don't get to have 4th qtr comebacks......... then you're not great?

Every game Stafford is in requires a 4th qtr comeback. He's had a lot of them............ and still a losing 86-95 record.

At some point, those bulk statistics have to have a diminishing return. To the point where one has to consider quality over quantity. Eli Manning, though he has the Manning name, will be the first dilemma the HoF voters will need to tackle. He has two rings, has the volume stats... but can anyone honestly say he was one of the best QBs of all time during his career, so much so that he belongs in Canton? The answer is no... he wasn't, and doesn't... The Manning vote will kinda give us an inkling on how HoF voters look at Stafford.

I'll have Pats as my 2nd team.
If that's allowed.
you know the old adage If you have two quarterbacks, you have none?

I'll let you think on that...

Stafford has no chance at the HOF after this:

Really unbelievable.

Apparently he and his wife are paying for the health costs

Not football related, but not a good look for Mr. Stafford.
wtf kind of reaction was that? That photographer fell from a 8 foot stage on concrete and fractured her spine. Matt turns around and finishes his drink?!?!?

well...I think when you take it in the context that Brady committed a crime against humanity when he threw the Supe Trophy from one duckboat to another, Stafford showing he's a puerile little jerk capable of complete selfishness in the face of another's distress is rather mundane for the "noam sain peepoo ax a queshun fiddy time" current NFL generation. I fully expect to see Stafford wearing a "Free Alvin Kamara" protest tee shirt this time next week...

Based on his reaction to the woman who fell off the stage Stafford is a HoF doochbag
