Who will be the new OC?

I would like to see Bill bring in some veteran coaches providing some ideas like when he first started. Not happening though as the board favorite Steve (sarcasm) is too far down the rabbit hole. Bill will not demote him but rather promote him. Mayo eventually leaves like Pepper Johnson did as this situation looks eerily similar.
I'd read somewhere that Pepper was deemed too slow at "padding" and removed from the process...I think it was Greg Bishop's SI piece on "Padding" about a month ago.

I don't know about Mayo, but he hasn't interviewed for any HC job yet...he could be our Def Coordinator, but not necessarily the play caller. He was on the radio today saying we would be finding faster playmakers on D....

All of that being said, I'd also like a de facto OC...preferably someone who can stick around for 2-3 years while Jones develops. I don't know if the Pats have called Adam Gase or not...but IMO..that would be a better hire than BoB as I don't think any NFL franchise will be giving Gase a 2nd chance anytime soon....

in bill we trust....to hire the least qualified and underwhelming staff possible....also helps if you've done time at an NAIA powerhouse

What do you mean by "padding"? From what I remember, he was under the impression he was going to be the next D coordinator, but left after realizing it wasn't going to happen.

I like the sound of that.

Steve might get the DC title or he might leave to coach somewhere else. But while he is here, no one else is calling plays.

Judon confirmed that Steve does call the plays.

Also said that he personally was "football injured" and down the stretch players tried to do too much and got out of the scheme.

Reading this thread, it appears that BB is an idiot with no knowledge of football.

Thank 'god' we were lucky in going to all those Superbowls.
I suspect a reading comprehension problem.

It is not saying that Belichick has no knowledge of football to be concerned about not having an OC or anyone with a history of leading an offense or calling plays.

A veteran OC (who would likely have 2nd in commend) is not likely to happen. Belichick has to have complete control over those that owe everything to him (or those patriot coaches who came before him).

Belichick would rather have his children coach than to bring on top level help.

That’s the thing Belichick has never demoted one of his coordinators/play callers. Not in 22 seasons. Bringing in someone else or promoting someone else to DC demotes Steve Belichick. That isn’t happening. Steve might get the DC title or he might leave to coach somewhere else. But while he is here, no one else is calling plays.
Just yesterday I was trying recall him ever firing a coach. Has that happened?
On another note, the radio is abuzz with claims that SB can't/won't address the players in a group setting. If this is true I have to wonder if it's some sort of autism. At any rate, if Mayo is doing all of that I'm sorry he needs to be elevated. While I can certainly sympathize with that condition or fear it would speak huge volumes of what kind of person Mayo is to sort of take that on quietly.

Mayo interviewed w/ Denver & Vegas. Mayo also said Little Steven was calling the plays. I don't see that changing. Mayo will be gone next year, one way or the other.

98.5 at the SB.
Although they interviewed Mayo shortly after talking about it and didn't have the balls to bring it up with him.

That's because they'd all be laughing at him. Little Steven needs a black buffer/translator to deal with the players. What a joke this team has become, rife with nepotism.

Wait, I thought we were the only bumbling team in the league that went to the John Carroll well.

Staley should've been fired on the fuc-king plane ride home after that coaching sh!t show vs the Faiders to end their season; so...

Our game against the Bills was the most pathetic effort I’ve ever seen.
If Staley deserved to be fired.
Our defensive staff and players should of been left stranded in the jungle.

I’ve seen this schtick before. It’s called Luther the Angry translator.

Do you genuinely think that black players have a maturity/comprehension issue when spoken to by a white man to the point that they need a black man to speak to them in a way they can understand?

Lol, you didn't understand what I meant. They can understand him just fine, they just don't respect him. Mayo acts as a buffer to better deliver the message (not translate). Would you respect anything this dude said, or just laugh at him?

this reminds me of the time we played the 1985 bears.

Folks complained about how bad we played, and how many players and coaches should be replaced. The quality of the other team and their play was irrelevant, as it often is to fans.

We played one of the best teams ever in that Super Bowl.

In Buffalo, their team played one of the best games ever, especially their offense. Bill believed that and went into their locker room to congratulate them. Of course, some of our posters want to fire all our terrible defensive players and coaches because they weren't good enough.

This is the link….

Yeah, he interviewed…but this off season?

No, I didn’t get that at all from what you said. You specifically brought up race in an attempt to gaslight the topic. At least that’s how I took it. I’m not a fan of Steve, but I also don’t know jack **** about him, other than what we all repeat amongst one another. His haircut is **** and what the **** is with those faces he makes? Looks like he’s high on coke. I also don’t know **** about Mayo. I assume he’s a good coach because of what we all knew of him as a player, but that could be wrong as well.

If Steve can’t communicate with the players, then he shouldn’t be a coach.
