What if Belichick left, and Brady stayed?

We never had this asinine topic in the sub forum. We discussed Brady there because peoples delicate fragilities were too offended on the main forum.
It’s a Patriots forum, why wouldn’t non-patriot topics be in a sub forum? Never understood that complaint.

Real question:

Would the Tampa Bill Belickineers thread be banished to the BB forum because people were too butt hurt?

nothing would happen. the cupboard was too bare over the past 2 seasons for Brady to do anything with this roster.

The way Tamps played vs LA it seemed like Stevie Beleichick was calling the defense.

Because there's a giant Jets megathread in the main forum instead of the NFL forum along with other off topic threads as well. Hypocrisy at its finest

Well that’s been a running joke for years to make fun of the atrocity that is the Jete.

If I remember correctly there were numerous Brady and Buc threads, often more that patriot threads, so I understand the reasoning, but honestly don’t care either way.

Are people really arguing we shouldn't have rooted for Tom in Tampa (but still put the Pats #1) lol? Weirdo behavior.

Idiocy. The choice was never between Brady and Belichick. The choice was between the past and the future.

For the record I think we got the timing right on Brady's departure. EVERYONE KNEW that Brady had a few more years in him. We also knew that if we didn't retool for at least a year or two then it probably wasn't going to be enough to compete for Superbowls even with Brady. By timing it the way we did, we picked up Mac Jones, who isn't Brady but is talented and shows a lot of potential in his own right.

At the end of the day you've GOT to start thinking about life beyond Brady when he's 42 and the rest of your team needs to spend multiple seasons getting younger, then rounding back into shape. Brady's waited around through those periods before but at his age, chose not to this time. Gotta move forward not backwards.

Besides, Brady is partly responsible for the timing of his departure because, for completely understandable reasons, he decided that for the last few years of his career there would be no more hometown discount. It was basically a no fault divorce, everyone takes their assets, everyone would up happy with the outcome except a handful of superfans who still think it's 2005.

Maybe, but is anyone still concerned with the Bills?

I look to the past ... what happened when Parcells lighted out of here? Vilified to this day in New England.

Same thing would have happened to Belichick if he was the one who walked away from the Patriots.

I'm still not THAT concerned about them. They may have a good squad now but they don't have the institutional infrastructure to keep it going after the current crew gets expensive. Once Jones hits his prime we'll beat the Bills 7 times out of 10 unless they manage to improve as well.

Yeah but what if the Bills get DeShone Kizer?

It’s a little different. Parcells mailed in his effort to coach a SB and won nothing here. Belichick won more than anyone ever has.
Parcells also went to a rival and took one of the teams best players with him which was a source of fans dislike of him.

Generally I don’t see him being vilified at all now, just people being honest that he doesnt belong in the patriots HOF because he didn’t accomplish nearly enough here to qualify.

I understand the difference between the two situations. But if BB had left there would have been recriminations about the cap, leaving before rebuilding the roster, and most likely taking a coach or two with him along with a free agent or two.

Time has healed some of the parcels grievances, but not for all
