What if Belichick left, and Brady stayed?

Let's say same results. Pats struggle in 2020, return to the playoffs in 2021, but the defense craps out. And BB wins a SB for Tampa in 2020, by replacing the Winston turnover machine with a game manager (nowhere near as good as Brady of course, but not giving the ball away 40 times), and by turning the TB defense into the 1985 Bears.

Would it suck? Hell yes.

Would I, an avowed Pats fan, a "homer" if you will, be rooting for Tampa? Hell no.

Much easier to support the all time great QB than the coach. Brady is also more likeable in general and much easier to cheer for.

I am glad Bill is our coach but that’s to the extent of it. When bill leaves then I don’t care where he goes next or what happens to his career after his Pats days.

Guess it depends on who you are. I couldn’t choose between which one I like more football wise, but personally (from a public, distant, surface view) I definitely like Belichick better.

It's getting boring how every thread at this point devolves into this weird, totally manufactured "Homers vs Bradyites" ****. Like my God are y'all just looking for something to get angry about? Both sides are so goddamn annoying and the vitrol is totally, absolutely, quantifiably useless and contributes nothing to anyone enjoying anything here.

I get that the sides will always exist. But the arguments are equal parts cringe and annoying.

I mean, this is yet to be proven so we'll have to wait and see.

2020 would have had the same results unless the new Coach (which probably is McDaniels) emphasizes more offense.

Why would it suck? There are 30 other teams whose winning would suck a lot more. The guy who got the **** end of the stick and left New England while the other stayed, is naturally going to get more sympathy from the fans, and the one who stays gets the higher expectations. I absolutely would have rooted for Belichick, especially against the Packers and Chiefs. Would I be an obsessed stan like I am for Brady? Of course not. I don’t see coaches as anywhere near the same level as an all-time great player. But I’d be rooting for him, and I’d be embarrassed by fans rooting against him.

Now if Belichick went to a rival, that would be different. And I do think that was a big consideration for Brady…not alienating the fan base like Favre.

Then leave
