Who will be the new OC?

I had a difficult time understanding actually what point you are trying to convey.
I’m not wrong on the facts that BOB always ran on 1st down and since we didn’t have Najee Harris with Brian Robertson backing him up, those 1st downs were not nearly as effective. In fact we were to 2 RBs on scholarship toward the end of 2021!
When we get 1-3 yards on 1st down, what do you do on 2nd down? You pass! If I knew it, the DC knew it.
When we didn’t have leads going into 2nd half, the pass happy BOB started calling plays. Our OL was giving up sacks and Young was running for his life.
I have been season ticket holder for over 20 years and we go to almost every game and go to numerous away games. I can tell the difference between the play calling of BOB vs Sark vs Kiffin.

1st and 2nd quarter, his play calling was so freaking predictable. Pass, run, pass. This was the time when Bama normally builds the lead and then in the 3rd and 4th puts their foot on the opponents neck. We couldn't built up leads in the 1st quarter because he was so predictable and conservative. I once said to my husband when we at a game, If me, a middle aged woman sitting in the stadium knows he going to pass on 1st down, don't you think their DC knows it? Our OL got a bad rap this year, and sometimes they deserved it, but when the defense knows when you are going to pass and when you aren't, the defense has a huge advantage.
He ran the ball more than previous coordinators did. You were wrong almost 60% of the time you guessed he was going to throw in first down.

Now you are saying you aren’t wrong that he ran too much on 1st down when your complaint was everyone knew he was going to pass on first down.

Unless O’Brien gets the job, I am guessing that the team just hires a QB coach, replaces whoever McDaniels takes with him and then has Caley call the plays.

They have always had the play caller/de facto OC be the QB coach

That’s been true for the last two OCs, Bill O’Brien and McDaniels. McDaniels was the QB coach under Weis, and then added play calling to his duties when Weis left. O’Brien was WR, and when McDaniels left he slid over to QB and picked up the play calling duties. So if it follows the first McDaniels departure, yes Caley would slide to QB coach.

Sorry, I meant run, pass, run and had that in my head. My apologies for sure on that one.
I had run, pass, run in my head and was so confused as to why you were calling me out. That is all on me and so embarrassing.

It might not matter anyway, BOB is looking like the golden boy now that our DC got arrested for a DUI the night before last. So pissed!!

Just trying to keep the discussion on him accurate.
But I’m still confused. If it’s run pass run that would mean running all the time on 3rd down?
So you meant you would tell your husband a RUN is coming in 1st down? But in that case you would be right about 60% of the time which is entirely normal. This is just a picky topic with me because so many fans indiscriminately whine about play calling. That’s probably not you.

In the first half, as I did post correctly, that was his play calling. Run, pass, run. Of course there were times he would do different things, it wasn't 100% of time, but it was very predictable. There were times when he would call 3 pass plays, but overall he was very conservative in the 1st half and we didn't build leads like we have have done in past even with a lower level of talent that we had last year. Going back to the year with Blake Sims as our QB or Jack Coker as our QB. Both those guys threw for over 3,000 yards and won a lot of games, Coker won a National Championship and both had Lane Kiffin as their OC. There were times when Kiffin would draw up some plays that as a fan you sat back and just said, Wow that was a great play design, the same can be said for Sark. Just didn't see much creative plays out of BOB, who more than Sark last year needed those type plays due to a lower level of talent on the field. He just didn't seem to tap into the talents of each player.

It is not just me, or a handful of fans that feel this way about him, there are a lot of invested Bama fans that feel the same way. And when I say invested, I mean people who know football. Most of us in the south are raised on football and religion and in that order, girls and boys. Yes, there are some idiots that will talk out of their arse, but there are those you really know the schemes and the game plan.

If BOB is conservative, predictable, and lacks creativity, he should fit right in with the Pats.

Ah, reminds me of the Good Ol Days when the Boston Celtics had the All Ugly team with Parish, McHale and Bird.
A thing or two about us Bostonian’s.
We are brutally honest about flaws you may have
But we will make you Prince’s of the city. Flaws and all.
If you bring those Duck boats out for us

I just said in another thread that I hope it is O'Brien. The reason is Jones came from a play action and RPO heavy Alabama offense that O'Brien ran last year (Jones passed out of play action or RPO nearly 60% of the time in Alabama and sparingly last year). I don't think O'Brien would throw out the Patriots' offense to run the Alabama offense. Nor would Belichick let him. But I could see him gearing the offense more to Jones' strengths in that area while Jones continues to grow into the Patriots' offense.

If I had one major complaint about McDaniels' this season is that even though he made the offense easier for Jones to run, he didn't try to gear the offense to fit Jones' strength in the play action or RPO more.
